Justin Timberlake tried to keep his DWI arrest footage private, but despite his best efforts, the bodycam video is out. The 18-minute clip, released by TMZ, shows Timberlake attempting multiple sobriety tests while openly admitting, “I’ve never done this,” before adding, “I’m a little nervous… my heart is racing.”
At one point, mid-instructions, he even breaks to say, “Guys, I’m just following my friends back to my house.” About 10 minutes into the clip, his friend walks over from the other car and tells the officer, “Help us. help.” When the confused police officer responds, “You need help?” she breaks into a laugh and says, “I’m just kidding.”
While Timberlake is attempting to do a one-legged stand, where he has to hold his leg out, only making it to 5 seconds, the singer looks over to the officer and says, “By the way, these are like really hard tests.”
The situation only gets more chaotic when his friend realizes that he’s being arrested. She asks, in full disbelief, “No, he’s not,” she says, “stop it. No way. Don’t say it.” “You’re arresting Justin Timberlake right now?
When the cop explains he’s failed every single test and will be there all night, until the judge sees him in the morning, she’s still in disbelief, adding, “There’s no way.”
Once he’s in the backseat of the cop car, a sad Timberlake gives the cops permission for his friend to drive his car home. The friend asks to talk to Timberlake and is denied until she begs again, “Please help me.”
Then comes the biggest hit name drops. “Can you guys please just do me a favor? ’Cause you loved ‘Bye Bye Bye’ or like ‘Sexy Back’…” “This is insane,” she says. And somehow, it works.
While trying to figure out what to do next, she starts asking rapid-fire questions like, “Who’s your lawyer? Tell me a lawyer’s name.”
At the same time, Timberlake himself is still trying to understand what’s happening, asking, “Why are you arresting me?” as officers continue to move the process along.
The whole video plays out like a mix of nerves, disbelief, and unexpected comedic moments. Which is exactly what Timberlake’s legal team was trying to avoid. In court filings, his attorney argued the footage shows him in an “acutely vulnerable state,” warning it could cause “severe and irreparable harm” to his reputation.
