When it’s Sunday and its football season, Craig Melvin knows you may have to do some bribing to get uninterrupted TV time.
Over the weekend, the TODAY anchor gave a sweet glimpse into how he managed to catch the 14 football games that are typically on Sundays during football season, revealing his compromise with his daughter Sybil: making cookies.
In addition to Sybil, nine, the journalist is also a dad to son Delano, 12, who he shares with fellow sports broadcaster Lindsay Czarniak, who he married in 2011.
On Sunday, Craig, 47, took to Instagram and shared a sweet glimpse inside his Connecticut family home, first sharing a selfie of him and Sybil, all smiles as she holds on to a purple squishy.
He next shared a snap of the tween measuring ingredients, followed by clips of her combining them in a KitchenAid mixer. Other clips captured Craig putting the cookies in the oven, followed by the delicious results.
“On a rainy Sunday, I convinced her to let me watch football for several hours without much interruption if we made cookies,” Craig wrote, “It was a win/win. They were delicious and she was happy. So was I.”
© InstagramFans were then quick to take to the comments section under the post and gush over it, with one writing: “Such beautiful sweetness here in this picture. Enjoy these moments when your time is all they want. The roles reverse one day.”
Others followed suit with: “Those look amazing, great job dad making sure she is happy also and building memories,” and: “She’s as cute as a cookie,” as well as: “She’s so cute Craig and I can see you in her.”
Earlier this week, Craig, again taking to Instagram, said that football was definitely one of his favorite things about the fall season. He added that Sundays, in addition to football days, are also soup days in his family, sharing: “Chili also included. I make my famous chili — famous only in my house. And then we take turns making different soups throughout the fall and winter.”
© InstagramHe added that “pumpkin picking with the kiddos” is another fall favorite, which they have done their entire lives,” though now “they do it far more reluctantly than they used to.”
© InstagramLast month, Craig revealed that Sybil has seemingly caught the acting bug, and starred in her school play of The Little Mermaid.
The doting dad shared that the tween was definitely “in her element,” and that theater appears to be very much “her thing.”
