Tiger Woods reportedly had a rough night that only got worse after his girlfriend, Vanessa Trump, confronted him following his two-vehicle rollover crash.
On Friday, Woods was taken into custody and brought to a police station, where he was processed on three misdemeanor charges: DUI, property damage, and refusing to submit to a urine test. Around 2 p.m. ET, he was driving north on a two-lane road near his home in Jupiter, Florida when a pickup truck towing a pressure cleaner trailer slowed down to turn into a driveway.
Local sheriff John Budensiek said Woods, who was driving a Range Rover, was going too fast, which made it difficult for the truck to fully clear the road. In a last-second move to pass, Woods ended up crashing into the trailer, causing his SUV to flip onto its side.
After the crash, Woods reportedly climbed out through the passenger side door. Surprisingly, no one involved was hurt. He was then required to spend eight hours in custody before a close friend bailed him out around 11 p.m. local time.
When he got back home from the Martin County Public Safety Complex, Woods was met by Trump, who had stayed up waiting for him. According to a source who spoke to the Daily Mail, Trump didn’t hide how upset she was about the situation.
“She’s not happy at all,” the source said. “She’s both disappointed and a little bit pissed, if I’m being honest. It’s a definite red flag. And she told him that he’s going to get this sorted out, and that she’s going to require that. He has to get things under control, or she’s not going to stick around.”
While the insider didn’t outright call it an ultimatum, they made it clear Trump put serious pressure on Woods to turn things around or risk losing her.
“This is a concerned girlfriend expressing boundaries and saying that he’s got to get his s— together, like right now,” the source added. “He’s very apologetic, from what I’ve heard. [He] wants to fix this. He’s embarrassed, he’s mortified at all this… and this is really humiliating for it to happen again. And Vanessa is embarrassed too. All her friends are like, ‘Girl, what the hell?’”
As for what might happen next, the source hinted that Woods could be heading toward getting professional help soon.
“Yeah, expect him to go into treatment soon,” they said. “They don’t argue very much, and she didn’t exactly say that they’re fighting, but she’s making her feelings abundantly clear. There’s no mistaking that this is a big deal to her.”
