Victoria Beckham may be at the center of one of the most uncomfortable family moments of her public life, but the charts are telling a very different story.

More than two decades after its release, her 2001 solo single ‘Not Such An Innocent Girl ‘has surged back into the spotlight, climbing to the top of the iTunes chart in Ireland and hitting the number one spot in the UK amid an unexpected wave of fan support.

The renewed interest did not arrive quietly. It followed Brooklyn Beckham’s explosive public statement accusing his parents, David and Victoria Beckham, of years of control, emotional damage, and a wedding day incident that he says left him humiliated.

What might have been a low point for Victoria has instead triggered a viral social media campaign determined to give her the solo chart milestone she never had.

By Thursday morning, ‘Not Such An Innocent Girl’ had topped the Irish iTunes chart and climbed rapidly in the UK, with fans openly declaring their allegiance.

The campaign began on Instagram, where a post quickly gained traction with fans calling the absence of a Victoria Beckham solo number one a “national tragedy.” The post read, “The fact that Victoria is the only Spice Girl without a solo #1 is a national tragedy we are finally fixing.”

It continued with a sentiment that spread across platforms. “Nothing says ‘British Culture’ like collectively deciding to send Posh to the top of the charts because her son roasted her on Insta. Imagine both their faces.”

Within hours, downloads surged. Fans shared screenshots, playlists, and throwback clips, many framing the chart push as both cultural commentary and tongue-in-cheek rebellion.

While Brooklyn has made it clear that he does not wish to reconcile, the public response has tilted sharply toward his parents, particularly Victoria.

One user wrote, “I’ve seen more VB music promo in the last 24 hours than in the last 20 years and I am obsessed.” Another added, “Let’s get her that #1 for the plot twist of the year.”

The song itself, released in 2001 as Victoria’s second solo single following ‘Out of Your Mind,’ was never forgotten, but it had long been filed away as a pop era footnote.

Victoria Beckham may be at the center of one of the most uncomfortable family moments of her public life, but the charts are telling a very different story.

That changed almost overnight. By Thursday morning, ‘Not Such An Innocent Girl’ had topped the Irish iTunes chart and climbed rapidly in the UK, with fans openly declaring their allegiance. “We stand with posh spice,” one commenter wrote, while another admitted, “I’ve done it out of principle but it is a terrible song.”

The timing of the resurgence is impossible to separate from Brooklyn’s statement, which he shared publicly earlier this week. In it, the 26 year old accused his parents of attempting to control his life and damage his relationship with his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham. “I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life,” he wrote.

Brooklyn’s statement extended far beyond the dance. He accused his parents of prioritizing image over emotional connection and of interfering in his marriage from the start.

At the heart of his claims is an allegation about his April 2022 wedding. Brooklyn said his mother disrupted what he believed was meant to be an intimate first dance with Nicola. “My mum hijacked my first dance with my wife, which had been planned weeks in advance to a romantic love song,” he wrote.

Describing the moment, he added, “She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone,” and later, “I’ve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life.” Those accusations sparked days of memes, parody videos, and commentary about Victoria’s dancing, many of which circulated widely across TikTok and X.

He also alleged that Victoria backed out of designing Nicola’s wedding dress at the last minute, saying, “My mum cancelled making Nicola’s dress in the eleventh hour.”

Sources close to the Beckhams, however, have disputed Brooklyn’s account, insisting the atmosphere at the wedding was celebratory and relaxed. Vogue’s original coverage of the event also appeared to contradict his version of events, reporting that the couple’s first dance was to Lloyiso’s rendition of Elvis Presley’s ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love,’ with Marc Anthony performing later in the evening.

According to that report, it was Brooklyn himself who invited Victoria onto the stage after the formal first dance, where she was joined by David Beckham and their daughter Harper. That detail clashes with Brooklyn’s insistence that the dance had been carefully planned weeks in advance as a private moment with his wife.

Brooklyn’s statement extended far beyond the dance. He accused his parents of prioritizing image over emotional connection and of interfering in his marriage from the start. “For my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family,” he wrote. “The performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into.”

He also alleged that Victoria backed out of designing Nicola’s wedding dress at the last minute, saying, “My mum cancelled making Nicola’s dress in the eleventh hour despite how excited she was to wear her design, forcing her to urgently find a new dress.” Brooklyn claimed the couple later renewed their vows privately, without his family present, to reclaim a sense of peace around their marriage.

While Brooklyn has made it clear that he does not wish to reconcile, the public response has tilted sharply toward his parents, particularly Victoria. His younger brother Cruz added fuel to the moment by sharing ‘Not Such An Innocent Girl’ on his Instagram story, signaling his support.
