‘We’re like oil and water’

Kelly Osbourne is opening up about one of the most complicated dynamics in her family. In an appearance on a podcast, Kelly addressed her relationship with her older sister, Aimee, revealing that the tension that’s been hinted at over the years has some truth to it.

Kelly was featured on the “We Need To Talk” podcast, sharing that Aimee had a distant relationship with her siblings. 

“If I’m honest, my older sister didn’t really ever acknowledge me and my brother [Jack Osbourne],” she said. “She was just in her own world doing her own thing. I do, to a certain extent, feel as though she was embarrassed of us.” 

 “I’ll never really truly understand. It just felt that way.”

While Aimee Osbourne is a musician, like many of her family members, she’s long maintained her distance and wasn’t a part of the family’s reality TV show, “The Osbournes.” The series followed parents Ozzy and Sharon, alongside their kids Kelly and Jack in their home, with Aimee’s photos blurred out due to her not wanting to be involved in the series.

“We’re very different,” continued Kelly. “Everything I am, she’s not. Everything she is, I’m not. Like you couldn’t be more polar opposite. We’re like oil and water.”

When asked if the two would ever mend bridges or turn a new leaf in their dynamic, Kelly had a succinct answer. “I respect her, I accept her, but we’re different, and that’s OK,” she said. 

“If you’re not going to accept me for who I am and constantly be trying to change me and say horrible things about me, and truly seem to thrive when I’m not doing well, I don’t want you in my life,” she concluded. 

Aimee has also opened up about their dynamic

In past years, Kelly has revealed that she and Aimee weren’t on speaking terms. These comments have been echoed by Aimee over the years. 

“I wouldn’t say there is an ease between us, but there is an acceptance. Do we socialise? No,” said Aimee in a 2015 interview with The Independent.

Despite Aimee’s desire for anonymity, she was there for her father’s funeral in the UK, alongside her mother and siblings. She was also featured in the documentary “Ozzy: No Escape From Now,” discussing his health.
