Authorities said officers spoke with family members, learned Hilton was alone inside the residence, and followed crisis intervention procedures designed to safely manage mental health emergencies.

The sheriff’s office said: “The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Crisis Response Unit and Licensed Mental Health Professionals are also on scene providing support and resources to the individual’s family.”

Officials also confirmed that Miami-Dade Fire Rescue transported Hilton to a local hospital.

Deputies prioritized de-escalation

Law enforcement said deputies initially focused on communication and de-escalation rather than immediately entering the residence, following established protocols for mental health crises. According to People, the sheriff’s office, the response emphasized preventing further harm while ensuring Hilton could receive medical attention safely. Authorities have not announced any criminal investigation related to the incident.

Argemis Colome, a detective with the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Public Affairs Office, told Entertainment Weekly that Hilton was “transported by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to a local hospital, where he is receiving medical attention.”

“The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Crisis Response Unit and Licensed Mental Health Professionals are also on scene providing support and resources to the individual’s family,” Colome noted per the publication.

Colome also explained, “in many incidents involving a person experiencing a mental health crisis or actively harming themselves, deputies prioritize de-escalation by creating time, distance, and opportunities for communication.”

“Unless there is an immediate threat to others, slowing the situation and utilizing crisis intervention techniques can reduce the likelihood of a suicide-by-cop encounter and minimize the risk of injury to the individual, deputies, and the public,” he wrote.

Management asks for privacy

Hilton’s representatives Dante Rusciolelli and Rebekah Kochan also addressed the situation, expressing concern for his well-being.

His management said they had been unable to reach him directly and asked the public to respect his privacy while he receives care, confirming they were “aware of the concerning content circulating online involving our client, Perez Hilton… At this time, we have not been able to make direct contact with him, despite our ongoing efforts to reach him. Our primary concern is Perez’s health and well being, as well as the well being of his family. Until we have confirmed information, we will not speculate or comment further. We appreciate everyone’s concern and ask that his privacy be respected during this time.”

A difficult year for Perez Hilton

The hospitalization comes just months after Hilton, whose real name is Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., publicly discussed recovering from a serious bout of sepsis that required an extended hospital stay.

Following that health scare, he spoke about reevaluating his life, his career, and his priorities, including his role as a father of three.

Hilton rose to prominence during the 2000s as one of the internet’s most recognizable celebrity gossip bloggers before expanding into podcasting, television appearances, and digital media.

What happened during Perez Hilton livestream?

The livestream has since been removed from TikTok.

Because the video depicted an apparent mental health crisis, authorities have largely avoided detailing the graphic content. Officials confirmed only that concerned viewers contacted emergency services after witnessing behavior they believed required immediate intervention.

At this time, no additional information about Hilton’s medical condition has been released.
