Where are the stars of The Rocky Horror Picture Show now 51 years after the movie’s release?

English actor Tim Curry became a household name when he appeared in both the stage and film versions of Rocky Horror as the iconic Dr. Frank-N-Furter. His image remains synonymous with that of the film to this day.

His then exploded in Hollywood as a character actor and villainous hire for films like Annie (1982), Clue (1985), Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992), Muppet Treasure Island (1996), and Charlie’s Angels (2000), plus playing Pennywise the Clown in the 1990 TV miniseries Stephen King’s It.

Curry’s work slowed down considerably after a 2012 stroke left him partially paralyzed, although he was able to pivot to voice acting. He passed away on August 25, 2026 at the age of 80.

Soon after Rocky Horror, Barry Bostwick, now 81, found success primarily on the stage and small screen. He won a Tony Award in 1977 for his work in The Robber Bridegroom, and won a Golden Globe in 1989 for his work in the miniseries War and Remembrance.

From 1996 to 2002, he played Mayor Randall Winston in the sitcom Spin City, later finding more success with recurring roles in the shows Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Phineas & Ferb, and Cougar Town. He continues to work extensively, his most recent credit being the 2025 movie Love, Danielle.

As for Barry’s personal life, in 1987, he tied the knot with fellow actress Stacey Nelkin. They divorced four years later, and in 1993, he married Sherri Jensen, with whom he has two children.

Rocky Horror proved to be a breakout role for Susan Sarandon, who has gone on to become a Hollywood mainstay. 1980’s Atlantic City, in particular, kicked off a legendary run of screen roles for the actress, now 79, and garnered her an Academy Award nomination.

She earned four more for Thelma & Louise (1991), Lorenzo’s Oil (1992), The Client (1994), and Dead Man Walking (1995), finally winning on her fifth. She has remained a mainstay of the stage and screen to this day, with her latest project, 2026’s The Echo Chamber, set to compete at the 83rd Venice Film Festival.

From 1967 to 1979, she was married to actor Chris Sarandon. Susan welcomed a daughter named Eva with ex Franco Amurri, and sons Jack and Miles with ex Tim Robbins, with all three now working in the entertainment industry as well. Susan is also renowned for her work as an activist, especially in issues related to anti-war, Palestinian rights, and LGBTQ+ freedoms.

After both writing and appearing in Rocky Horror, Richard O’Brien’s career continued on stage and screen. Since the movie, he has made minor and recurring appearances in a variety of projects, the two most notable being as the host of the ’90s English game show The Crystal Maze and the voice of Lawrence Fletcher in the Phineas and Ferb franchise, the latter ongoing to this day.

Now 84, Richard primarily lives in New Zealand. He has been married three times and shares three children with his first two wives. He is currently married to Sabrina Graf, with whom he tied the knot in 2013.

Northern Irish actress Patricia Quinn parlayed her Rocky Horror success into appearances in a variety of other cult classic projects, such as its semi-sequel Shock Treatment (1981), Hawk the Slayer (1980), Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life (1983), and The Lords of Salem (2012), and has made cameos in multiple episodes of Doctor Who.

Now 82, the actress hasn’t been seen on screen since 2013, although has appeared at a variety of Rocky Horror performances and conventions over the years. She was married twice, first to Don Hawkins from 1963 to 1975 (with whom she welcomed a son), and then to Sir Robert Stephens in 1995, who died later that year.

Australian actress Laura Elizabeth Campbell, who goes by Nell Campbell or “Little Nell,” also took on a variety of minor and supporting roles over the years after Rocky Horror, the most notable being 1981’s Shock Treatment and 1984’s The Killing Fields. She also released her own music between 1975 to 1980. Her most recent role was in the 2022 film Seriously Red.

Now 73, the actress also worked as a columnist and night club owner, best known for owning the club Nell’s in New York City. The doors to the club opened in 1986 and she sold it in 1998, before it closed in 2004. She shares one daughter, Matilda, with her ex Eamon Roche.

Michael Lee Aday first made a name for himself as a stage actor with the musicals Hair and Rocky Horror, even appearing in movies like Spice World (1997) and Fight Club (1999). But he is primarily remembered for his work as the musician Meat Loaf, bursting onto the scene with his 1977 debut album Bat Out of Hell.

The record was a massive hit, having sold over 40 million copies. His most successful albums since have been the two follow-ups in the Bat Out of Hell trilogy, with his 1993 single “I’d Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That)” becoming a global number one hit and earning him a Grammy. He is now one of the best selling musicians of all time, with sales of over 100 million.

From 1979 to 2001, he was married to Leslie Edmonds, adopting her daughter Pearl (now a musician) and welcoming a daughter named Amanda (now an actress). He was then married to Deborah Gillespie from 2007 until his death in 2022 at the age of 74.

Jonathan Adams’ on-screen career after Rocky Horror was not extensive, with a majority of his credits limited to the 1970s (save for 1985 film Revolution and the 1990 film Two Evil Eyes). He did also lend his voice to the BBC Radio 4 adaptation of Agatha Christie’s The Pale Horse. He then primarily continued to work as a visual artist in the UK. He passed away in 2005 at the age of 74.

Charles Gray had been appearing on screen for two decades by the time Rocky Horror was released, including roles in the James Bond films You Only Live Twice (1967) and Diamonds are Forever (1971).

He co-starred in the 1976 mystery The Seven Per-Cent Solution, 1981’s Shock Treatment, and the 1984 TV series The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. He continued acting into the late 1990s, passing away in 2000 at the age of 71.

Peter Hinwood, now 80, worked as both a professional model and photographer before being cast as the muscular Rocky, but did not enjoy fame. He appeared in only one more project, 1976’s Sebastiane, before quitting the industry altogether.

Peter is now an antiques dealer living in the United Kingdom, working most notably with fellow collector Christopher Gibbs. The pair were both business and romantic partners until the latter’s death in 2018.
