Where is Sarah Ferguson? Former duchess’s mysterious travels as Beatrice and Eugenie stay in royal palaces

Following the eviction from Royal Lodge and the arrest of her ex-husband, Prince Andrew, on February 19, 2026, Sarah Ferguson, the former Duchess of York, has largely disappeared from public view. 

Ferguson, 66, has not been seen since December 2025, when she attended the christening of her granddaughter Athena, Princess Beatrice’s now-1-year-old daughter. Sources confirm she is believed to be abroad while considering her next steps.

In recent months, Ferguson has reportedly stayed at wellness retreats in Europe. The Daily Mail reported she checked into Paracelsus Recovery in Switzerland from just after Christmas until the end of January, and in February traveled to Ballyliffin Lodge & Spa in Donegal, Ireland. 

There are also unconfirmed reports that she spent time in the UAE and Qatar. Ferguson’s departure from Royal Lodge marks the end of her longtime residence with Andrew, with the former Duke of York now living at Sandringham.

While Ferguson is reportedly house-hunting in the Windsor area, she has indicated a desire to live independently rather than joining her ex-husband.

Financial challenges have followed Ferguson in recent months. Sources report she faced a series of rejections for a potential $1.75 million U.S. publishing deal, which she had hoped would capitalize on her public profile.

Ferguson has previously acknowledged accepting €17,500 from Jeffrey Epstein in 2011. While Ferguson navigates this period, her daughters, Princess Beatrice, 37, and Princess Eugenie, 35, continue to maintain homes in London through private rental agreements with King Charles III.

Beatrice resides primarily in Oxfordshire but has an apartment at St. James’s Palace, while Eugenie keeps Ivy Cottage at Kensington Palace as her London base.

The sisters are reportedly managing their roles within the royal family amid ongoing scrutiny. People previously reported that Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie’s titles and positions remained unchanged when Andrew surrendered his royal titles in October 2025. 

A family friend reportedly said that they want to hold on to their royal status as its part of their identity. Over the years, Ferguson has maintained a public profile through media appearances and professional work. 

She was a correspondent for NBC’s Today Show, authored children’s books including Little Red and Tea for Ruby, and appeared semi-regularly on ITV’s Loose Women. 

She also sat down with Oprah Winfrey twice, first after her divorce and later following a scandal involving secret payments connected to Andrew, demonstrating her ability to navigate scrutiny and public interest.

Now, Ferguson faces an uncertain path forward. Her charitable ventures, including Sarah’s Trust, Julia’s House, and the Natasha Allergy Research Foundation, have all closed, and her next move may shape not only her personal life but also the public perception of her daughters and the York family.
