The girl group that helped define a pop generation is preparing for a comeback, but not everyone is returning to the stage. Fans of Fifth Harmony have dreamed about a reunion since their 2018 hiatus, and now the group is reportedly ready to make new music, but Camila Cabello will not be joining them.

Multiple insiders confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that Normani, Ally Brooke, Dinah Jane, and Lauren Jauregui are in talks to reunite, after almost a decade of going solo and embarking on new projects.

Fifth Harmony was one of the biggest groups during the 2010s after they skyrocketed to stardom via The X Factor in 2012. Camila, who famously departed in late 2016, is not involved in the planned reunion, as she continues her successful solo career, and focuses on her upcoming projects.

Among the solo careers of each member of the group, Camila took the global spotlight with chart-dominating tracks like “Havana” (featuring Young Thug) and the fan-favorite duet “Señorita” with her then-partner Shawn Mendes.

Meanwhile, Normani’s hits “Motivation” and “Love Lies” (with Khalid) made her a standout in R&B-pop crossover success. Ally Brooke, Dinah Jane, and Lauren Jauregui have also released singles and EPs.

However, fans of the musicians remember the original five-piece act as a successful ensemble that created hit songs, including “Work From Home,” “Worth It,” “Sledgehammer,” and many more.

Now, insiders suggest that a reunion is not only in motion, but it may also coincide with a major anniversary. Next year marks 10 years since the release of 7/27.

Plans are reportedly underway for a reunion documentary, potentially tied to an upcoming tour, though dates and details remain under wraps. Camila’s absence from the reunion is not a surprise for fans, as she split from the group back in 2016.

Her departure followed the infamous 2017 VMAs performance, where a lookalike was seen “leaving” the stage, fueling speculation about tensions behind the scenes.

In a March 2024 interview on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Cabello opened up about why she left. “I can remember waking up on tour, and going to my hotel room at like 7 a.m. and going to my GarageBand, and like writing songs, ’cause I didn’t want to do it while everybody was there,” she said.

“I started distancing myself from the group vision… I was just like, ‘I’m not happy here anymore, it doesn’t feel aligned.” Still, she has emphasized that she holds no ill will toward her former bandmates. In 2022, she told Reuters that she was “in a good place” with them and they’ve remained “supportive of each other through, like, DMs and stuff.”
