For those who have been keeping up with Rob Kardashian even after the reality TV star stopped appearing in “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” scenes a decade ago, he’s potentially ready to jump back into the spotlight.
For years, Rob Kardashian has been the most mysterious member of one of the most visible families in pop culture. While his five sisters and mom built global empires in front of the camera, Rob quietly stepped back, choosing distance over exposure. Now, that long-standing dynamic may be changing—but not in the way people expect.
A Return That’s Less About Fame
Rob’s possible return to The Kardashians isn’t about reclaiming attention. It’s about control. He dipped an Arthur George-clad toe in last year, appearing on both the season seven premiere and finale of “The Kardashians.” And when big sis and bestie Khloé Kardashian told him in a filmed phone call that viewers were “swooning and freaking out” over his inclusion in the Hulu series’ trailer, he responded, “They are not fangirling.”
But if he’s what the fans want… “I would hope to be on season eight,” Rob shared of the show, led by his sister Kourtney Kardashian, Kim Kardashian, Khloé, Kendall Jenner, Kylie Jenner, and mom Kris Jenner. “I definitely want to film on season eight.”
This isn’t the same Rob who walked away years ago. The difference now is intention; he’s considering returning because he wants to, not because he has to.
The Family Never Closed the Door
Even during his absence, the Kardashians have consistently made space for Rob to return on his own terms. “If he’s in the mood and in a good headspace to know that he wants to put himself out there,” Kim Kardashian shared during an October appearance on SiriusXM’s Radio Andy with Andy Cohen, “he’s so down.”
Rob, father of 9-year-old Dream with ex Blac Chyna, said, “It’s just been a choice for him to just want to chill a little bit.” Now, that choice appears to be evolving.
“Obviously we want to respect whoever doesn’t want to be on,” Kim stressed to Andy. “All of us don’t have to have the same dreams and goals. So, he changed his up a little bit and now, he’s like, ‘I don’t mind it.'”
Stepping Away Was an Act of Self-Preservation
Rob has been direct about why he distanced himself, and it had nothing to do with drama. “There’s definitely nothing wrong between any of us,” Rob clarified to Khloé on a July episode of her Khloé in Wonder Land podcast. “It just has everything to do with myself. I don’t wanna be filming and putting myself in a position where I’m not comfortable. I’m not comfortable in my skin, so why would I wanna go be on camera and just be vulnerable and let people in when that’s not what I wanna do?”
Fatherhood Became the Center of His World
At the core of Rob’s life now is his daughter, Dream. “It’s definitely changed me,” Rob said on Khloé in Wonder Land. “It’s definitely made me more grounded and instead of focusing my energy on a lot of other things, I’m all about, obviously, my daughter. I mean, that’s just what it is. That’s what you have to be.”
“I’m very lucky,” Rob continued. “Dream makes it very easy. She’s very smart and she’s a good kid, but it’s still very hard.” That grounded lifestyle extends to how he navigates relationships.
“I have a daughter. I’m trying to be a good example. I don’t bring girls in the house. I don’t have girls meet my daughter,” Rob stressed to Khloé. “But I’ve always been that since she was a baby.”
“Yes, of course I’ve dated,” he added. “But I’ve never gotten serious or wanted to. My energy is just into Dream.”
A Life Close to Family—Just Out of Frame
Despite his low profile, Rob hasn’t disappeared from family life. He’s simply chosen to exist outside the lens. “My brother loves to be a little elusive,” Khloé explained on an April 2025 episode of her podcast. “I call him the Wizard from The Wizard of Oz ’cause he likes to be behind the curtain. We all live in the same gated area, so he lives right next door to me.”
If Rob does return to “The Kardashians,” it won’t be a throwback moment—it will be a new chapter. Kris Jenner hinted at the franchise’s continued evolution, noting during a red carpet appearance, “We’re filming right now season 28, if you add them all up. The best one was the first one, and the other best one is the one we’re doing right now. Everything in the middle is just a blessing.”
