George and Amal Clooney have taken a very significant step toward solidifying their life in France. During what has been a particularly difficult holiday season for them, the actor and the human rights lawyer received long-awaited news.
Together with their eight-year-old twins, Alexander and Ella, they have officially obtained French citizenship, according to a naturalization decree published in the Journal officiel.
It is worth recalling that since 2021, the family has been living a life far removed from Hollywood glamour, enjoying a much simpler day-to-day existence away from the spotlight at their idyllic French vineyard, which they purchased for approximately €7.7 million.

The Clooneys spend most of the year at their French estate near the village of Brignoles, in the south of France. George and Amal purchased the former winery, Domaine du Canadel, in 2021 and moved there to raise their children in search of peace and tranquility.

It is also located just five minutes from Château Miraval, the controversial vineyard still at the center of ongoing legal disputes between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
A normal life for their kids:
The actor and the human rights lawyer have made it clear in several interviews that their main motivation for moving to France was to offer their children a life as normal as possible, far from the frenzy of paparazzi.
George has repeatedly said that he deeply appreciates the privacy that comes with living in a small French village, explaining that where they live, no paparazzi are looking to obtain photos of their kids.

“They live like normal kids,” he told Esquire, revealing that they’re not glued to iPads, and instead have dinner with them and do chores around the house.

Amal, known for her work defending human rights, has put strict measures in place to protect her children’s privacy, which is one of the reasons she doesn’t allow phones at her house. As she explained to Glamour, she has a basket to collect her guests’ phones.
