Lauren Sánchez Bezos expected plenty of unforgettable moments on her wedding day. What she did not expect was that she would be fighting back tears moments before walking into one of the most photographed ceremonies of the year.
The media personality, 56, recently revealed that she was “bawling” during her June 27, 2025, wedding to Jeff Bezos, 62, after an emotional round of speeches from the couple’s children left her overwhelmed.
Speaking in a new interview with Extra while promoting her children’s book ‘The Fly Who Flew Under the Sea,’ Sánchez Bezos reflected on the intimate family moments that unfolded just before the vows.
“All of our kids gave speeches, mine and Jeff’s, and they were all so meaningful,” Lauren told the outlet. “My daughter gave a speech during the ceremony, this was before we said our vows, and [I] started bawling. Like, I could not- I’m like, ‘Oh, my gosh’ right before the pictures.”
The ceremony took place on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore in Venice, Italy, where more than 200 guests gathered for the lavish celebration. But according to the bride, the most powerful moments came from the couple’s blended family.
Lauren shares three children from previous relationships, son Nikko, 25, with former NFL star Tony Gonzalez, and son Evan, 19, and daughter Ella, 18, with ex-husband Patrick Whitesell. Bezos, the Amazon founder, shares three sons and a daughter with his ex-wife, MacKenzie Scott.
Their children played a central role in the ceremony, delivering heartfelt speeches that Sánchez Bezos says defined the emotional tone of the day. “And so all of our kids gave these speeches and they were all extremely emotional and loving and I think they made the wedding what it was.”
One speech in particular surprised her. During a March 3 appearance on Today, Sánchez Bezos shared that her son Evan spoke about a deeply personal memory from his childhood. Like his mother, Evan has dyslexia, and his speech centered on a moment that marked a turning point in his early learning journey.
“One of my kids, who is dyslexic — and he lets me talk about it — went up there and talked about a moment that was extremely important to him, and I had no idea what he was going to say,” Lauren said.
The story he told took her back years. “He was in the fourth grade and not writing well and he wrote this sentence that says, ‘I can do this,’ ” she recalled. “And it was his first sentence. And that’s really late to be writing your first sentence as any parent with a kid with dyslexia knows.”
Lauren said she kept the moment close to her heart. “I blew it up and I put it in our kitchen, and it says, ‘I can do this.’ Anyway, he talked about how special that moment was for him.”
The emotional speeches were followed by another meaningful moment when both of Lauren’s sons escorted her down the aisle. Despite the tears, the celebration quickly shifted into full party mode.
“We did tear up the dance floor. We had so much fun,” Lauren said. “It was really incredible being there with, you know, all of our kids, our family, our best friends, and we danced all night. It was really, really fun.”
Kim Kardashian later shared that the emotional ceremony moved guests in the crowd as well. “What a beautiful bride you are,” she wrote on Instagram afterward. “We all cried watching you walk down the [aisle] in pure bliss!”
