Will Reeve had more than one reason to celebrate at the Los Angeles premiere of ‘Superman’ on July 7. Not only does he make a special cameo in the new DC reboot, but his appearance comes exactly 47 years after his father, the legendary Christopher Reeve, first wore the cape in 1978.

Will, 33, attended the afterparty with his fiancée Amanda Dubin, where the couple was all smiles. He looked sharp in a pinstripe navy suit over a crisp white shirt, while Amanda stunned in a shimmering silver gown.

The event, held at Club Metropolis, followed the red carpet premiere at Hollywood’s iconic TCL Chinese Theatre, which drew out the film’s stars David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, and director James Gunn.

Will’s cameo in ‘Superman’ is a full-circle moment, not only because of his father’s legacy but also because Will is a journalist in real life, just like Clark Kent. Although fans initially thought they’d spotted him as a news anchor in early trailers, Will later confirmed to TMZ that he does appear in the film, just not in that moment.

“I know the folks making the film, and they’ve been so kind to me and my family, and I had a free day so we made it [happen],” he said at the time. David Corenswet, who leads the new film as Superman, spoke warmly about Will’s presence on set.

“Will is great. He is the Superman type for obvious reasons. He’s tall, he’s handsome, and he’s got a great smile,” Corenswet told EW. “Having him show up and give his support in that moment was very heartwarming. He also got to meet my kid when she was only a few months old… that was a nice little thing, a little parallel.”

“He’s a very sweet and encouraging and positive guy. It would be odd to say that he gave us his stamp of approval because he would be the first to say that that’s not his place to approve or disapprove. But… that’s a very encouraging sign and means a lot,” the actor said to People.

Will’s appearance in ‘Superman’ comes during an especially reflective year for him. Back in February, he starred in the ABC News primetime special ‘Will Reeve: Finding My Father,’ a personal documentary about his late dad’s unfinished work.

The special retraced Christopher Reeve’s journey filming a documentary on the migration of Pacific gray whales, a project he had to abandon after a devastating horseback riding accident in 1995 left him paralyzed.

“For most of my life, I’ve been fascinated by the idea of taking this trip, which was not only important to my father but shaped my understanding of his life before the accident,” Will said. “Walking in his footsteps — in this setting that my father was drawn to — meeting some of the same people and hearing their shared stories about my dad exceeded my expectations.”He added, “This is the one story that needs an ending.”
