Willow Smith offered fans a rare glimpse inside her summer as she shared a series of striking photos from a mysterious coastal getaway.
The 25-year-old daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith looked incredible as she posed among volcanic rocks in crystal-clear water wearing a tiny black bikini.
In one image, Willow knelt in the shallows with her waist-length braids cascading around her, while another showed the singer reclining across the rocks as she soaked up the sunshine.
A closer shot highlighted her toned physique as she stood in the water wearing a simple triangle bikini top with low-slung black bottoms, completing her beach look with a green pendant necklace.
But the post offered much more than a glimpse at Willow’s summer style. The musician also shared snapshots of picturesque streets framed by mountains, a coastal sunset and a collection of instruments seemingly ready for an impromptu jam session.
An acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass and two trumpets could be seen spread across a sofa alongside art books, including one dedicated to Jean-Michel Basquiat.
Inside Willow Smith’s mysterious summer
Willow also revealed some of her summer reading, sharing a marked-up page from a book by acclaimed author Ursula K. Le Guin.
Several passages had been underlined and decorated with handwritten stars and hearts, including sections exploring ideas around freedom, human connection and mutual aid.
The eclectic collection of images appeared to capture exactly where Willow’s head is at this summer, combining music, literature, nature and plenty of time by the ocean.
“Idk about y’all but I am still vibing heavily off this,” she captioned the post. Willow appeared to be referring to the Lion’s Gate portal, a term used in astrology and spiritual communities for an annual period around August 8 that followers associate with reflection, transformation and new beginnings.
She did not reveal the location of her coastal escape, leaving the dramatic rocky shoreline and surrounding scenery part of the mystery.
Willow’s creative evolution
The latest glimpse into Willow’s world comes during another creative chapter for the artist, who has spent years carving out an identity far removed from simply being the daughter of two Hollywood stars.
After first finding fame with her 2010 hit “Whip My Hair” when she was just nine, Willow has continually reinvented her sound, moving through pop, alternative rock and punk before exploring a more sophisticated blend of jazz, neo-soul and experimental music.
Her sixth studio album, Empathogen, released in 2024, marked another departure and showcased a more intricate, jazz-influenced sound. “I just grew up a little bit, and I really am starting to figure out what kind of musician I really want to be,” she told Allure in May last year.
She continued: “I’m settling into more of who I am. And that doesn’t mean that screaming and shredding on the guitar is not who I am because it is, but I’m going a little bit deeper. It’s about being a well-rounded musician more than anything for me and not being pigeonholed into any specific genre.”
