Elon Musk has once again taken the spot as the world’s richest person, per Forbes.
According to the outlet, Elon’s net worth is a jaw-dropping $839 billion.
His financial history
Back in October, Elon made history by becoming the first person ever to have a net worth of over $500 billion.
As if that isn’t an extraordinary amount already, since then he has increased his funds by an additional $339 billion in just under half a year to achieve his recent profit.
He has his successful Tesla stock and lucrative SpaceX deals to thank for that.
Elon’s modest home
Given his astonishing earnings, it’s quite surprising that Elon has an unbelievably modest home, instead of a luxurious property with all the fancy works.
His primary residence in Texas is an unassuming three-bedroom property that is a $45,000 rental home.
In 2022 he tweeted: “My primary home is literally a ~$50k house in Boca Chica / Starbase that I rent from SpaceX. It’s kinda awesome though.”
He additionally tweeted: “[The] only house I own is the events house in the Bay Area. If I sold it, the house would see less use, unless bought by a big family, which might happen someday.”
The house is a simple white one-story property that he uses as his go-to resting spot after his long days at SpaceX’s nearby Starbase facility.
He shared the work he put into the house during the Full Send podcast and said: “But I’ve done a lot with the place. It’s technically a three-bedroom, it used to be a two-bedroom, but I converted the garage into a third bedroom.”
His additional space
On top of that he has a “casita” in his back yard, which was surprisingly worth $50,000. The extra mini-house is a futuristic-looking 375-square-feet space which includes a kitchen, living room and bedroom. The little property has a queen-size bed, top appliances and sky lights.
On top of that, it was created by the brand Boxable to be mold, wind, fire, water and bug resistant. The property can remain open or closed off by its floor-to-ceiling doors.
Elon further revealed on the podcast: “I use the Boxabl as my guesthouse, so if a friend comes and stays then they can stay in the Boxabl if they want.”
According to reports in 2024, the billionaire purchased three mansions for $35 million, and he also plans on building a compound close to Austin.
Elon’s competition
Elon’s competition, who is in Forbes’ second spot is Larry Page, who needs to earn three times more to take him off the top spot. At the moment, Larry is worth around $257 billion.
Following behind in third place is Sergey Brin with a net worth of $237 billion.
Elon’s latest bank statement means that he is close to making history as a trillionaire by next year, by the rapidly growing rate of his companies.
