Tribeca Festival 2025 is here! The festival, was founded in 2002, has grown into a New York institution and introduces stories from established and newcomer voices working across all sorts of mediums, from films to audio storytelling to television to video games, and more.

The festival kicked off today, Wednesday June 4th, and runs until the 15th, providing New Yorkers with a unique opportunity to be exposed to stories they may have otherwise never found, or which might become one of the years’ biggest hits, allowing you to interact with it first, before the world has made up its mind about it.

While Tribeca is often the first place where many people screen their movies, it’s also a celebration of cinema, hosting significant anniversaries in some of the city’s best theaters. This year, two iconic movies are worth highlighting: “Casino” and “Requiem for a Dream.” The first is celebrating its 30th anniversary, featuring a conversation after the show alongside star and Tribeca co-founder Robert De Niro and director Martin Scorsese.

“Requiem for a Dream” is celebrating its 25th anniversary, and will be celebrating with a screening and a conversation after the movie featuring lead star Ellen Burstyn and director Darren Aronofsky.

International films like “People and Meat,” “Cuerpo Celeste,” and “Pinch” have garnered some critical love and appraisal leading up to the festival. The films are a part of the program’s international roster of films, representing countries like France, South Korea, Chile, and India.

If you’re interested in New York stories, you’ll find plenty of them in Tribeca. “Andy Kaufman is Me” is a documentary directed by Clay Tweel exploring the life of Kaufman with a mix of his unearthed audio diaries and marionette puppetry.

Video games and panels

While many festivals have pursued tradition as they’ve aged and become established voices in media spaces, Tribeca does the opposite; in recent years, the festival has embraced all manner of storytelling. If you’re interested in playing the offering of video games, visit the Tribeca website and book tickets for any game that interests you. They’re all free and will be available to play at the Tribeca Games Gallery at Pier 57, from June 11th through the 15th.

Some of this year’s panels include speakers like Ellen Pompeo, Riley Keough, Jim Gaffigan, Mark Ronson, Wyclef Jean, and more.

You can find more details and tickets on all of these films and events at Tribeca’s official website.
