Morgan Fairchild made a stunning rare red carpet appearance in Los Angeles over the weekend.
The 76-year-old actress looked effortlessly elegant as she attended Project Angel Food’s annual Lead With Love fundraiser at KTLA 5 Studios, stepping out in a beautifully detailed floral blouse, tailored black trousers and platform sandals.
With her signature honey-blonde hair styled in soft, voluminous layers and understated jewellery completing the look, Morgan appeared every bit the glamorous star audiences have adored for decades.
The television legend, whose career spans more than five decades with memorable roles in Flamingo Road, Falcon Crest, Murphy Brown and Bold & Beautiful, smiled for photographers before taking part in the charity event alongside Project Angel Food CEO Richard Ayoub.
Despite decades in the spotlight, Morgan continues to embrace public appearances with the same poise that made her one of television’s best-known leading ladies.
Her unforgettable Friends role
While younger audiences may know Morgan best as Nora Bing, the glamorous romance novelist and mother of Matthew Perry’s Chandler Bing in Friends, she once revealed she almost turned down the role after receiving unexpected advice from another Hollywood legend.
Speaking on the CY Interview YouTube channel, Morgan recalled that the late Cicely Tyson questioned whether she should accept the part.
“I remember Cicely Tyson was saying to me, ‘No, no, you shouldn’t play a grown man’s mother. You’re too young,'” Morgan shared.
Fortunately for Friends fans, she decided otherwise. Her portrayal of Chandler’s larger-than-life mother quickly became one of the sitcom’s most memorable recurring guest roles.
The line she never expected to air
Morgan has also admitted she was convinced one particular joke from Friends would never make the final edit.
Appearing on The Patrick Labyor Sheaux podcast, she reflected on a memorable exchange between Nora Bing and her ex-husband, Helena Handbasket, played by Kathleen Turner.
After Helena asks, “Aren’t you a little too old to be wearing a dress like that?”, Nora delivers the now-famous comeback: “Don’t you have a little too much penis to wear a dress like that?”
Morgan admitted she was stunned the line survived the editing process.
“It’s my favorite line of my career, probably,” she said. “I was shocked they left it in.”
Sweet memories of Matthew Perry
Following Matthew Perry’s death in 2023, Morgan also shared one of her favourite memories of working alongside the beloved actor.
She recalled him enthusiastically introducing himself on the Friends set, despite the fact they had actually met years earlier when he was a child.
“Matthew Perry came running over to me, bounding over like a big puppy dog,” she remembered. “He said, ‘Oh, you won’t remember me, but I used to hang out with you on the set of Flamingo Road and Falcon Crest with my dad.'”
Matthew explained that his father, actor Bennett Perry, had appeared alongside Morgan on both series. “I said, ‘Who’s your dad?’ He said, ‘Bennett Perry.’ I’m like, ‘Oh my God, you were that little kid?’ Then I guess I am old enough to be this guy’s mother.”
