Bradley Walsh has been the main star of The Chase since it first aired on ITV back in 2009. The presenter is also known for other shows like Cash Trapped, Gladiators and Blankety Blank.
But have you ever wondered how much the 65-year-old earns from the show? Well, during an edition of Beat the Chasers, which was aired last year, Bradley’s co-star, Jenny Ryan, seemingly indicated how much he was worth.
Opening last year’s series of the show, Bradley teased the ‘chasers’ about how they lost £700,000 in the previous series thanks to successful contestants, before asking how they would have spent the money.
Jenny was the first to reply, as she responded: “I have to think about it positively rather than negatively. By catching contestants, the chasers saved the show £20 million. Or as ITV calls it, two-thirds of a Bradley!”
This would mean that Bradley would be on a salary of £30 million from the broadcaster. Quite a hefty number!
However, other reports have indicated that the long-serving presenter actually pockets far less than what Jenny was implying.
The star is reported to actually only earn £4 million a year from ITV, after securing a pay rise from a previous deal that saw him paid £3.5 million. At the time, it was reported that Bradley was considering walking away from the show if he didn’t get the pay rise.
The Chase’s future
The Sun has claimed that filming for new episodes of the popular ITV show has been put on hold for at least a year as part of cost-cutting measures. The publication also hinted that the pause in the show could mean that Bradley was free to host Strictly Come Dancing, which might clash with his schedule.
An ITV spokesperson dismissed concerns in a statement. “The Chase has just finished recording series 19, which completes its recording schedule for this year,” they said.
“ITV continue to air The Chase as usual, with a combination of new and repeat episodes across the year. With over 2.5 million viewers per show, The Chase remains one of the nation’s most loved quiz shows. There is also a new Beat the Chasers for 2026 and a brand new spin-off series: The Chase Around the World coming soon.”
Even if Bradley is freed from his hosting duties, he has previously indicated that he doesn’t intend to host the popular BBC show.
Speaking to the Radio Times, Bradley Walsh explained: “Here’s a potted version of my winter weekends. I come home from the studio on a Friday, have dinner and watch I’m A Celebrity.
“On Saturday, I’ll watch the football results, have dinner and a pint, watch Strictly, then I’m A Celebrity, and flip back to the BBC for Match of the Day. On Sunday, I get up late, watch some Columbo, then the football, followed by the Strictly results, then I’m A Celebrity, and then Match of the Day.”
He concluded: “If I was to host Strictly, it would absolutely ruin my weekend.
