Cameron Diaz’s return to Hollywood is fully in motion, and her next film, Outcome, is set to release in less than a month on April 11 on Apple TV. The trailer and first images for the film dropped on Tuesday, and Diaz is shining through, looking absolutely incredible. In the trailer, Diaz’s famous smile shines as she looks at her co-star Keanu Reeves.
The upcoming Apple Original dark comedy, directed and co-written by Jonah Hill, centers on Reef Hawk, played by Keanu Reeves, a once-beloved Hollywood star whose carefully rebuilt life implodes after a mysterious blackmailer threatens to release a damaging video. What follows is a chaotic, introspective spiral through his past as he tries to figure out who’s targeting him.
She plays Kyle, Reef’s longtime best friend, alongside Matt Bomer’s Xander. When Reef confesses he doesn’t want the public to know he struggled with addiction for years, Kyle is part of the tight inner circle helping him navigate the fallout. It’s intimate, character-driven territory, and Diaz looks right at home in it.
She looks just as good in the first images. Her blonde hair falls softly over her shoulders, her makeup minimal, her expression calm, but telling. There’s a warmth to her presence that feels grounded and self-assured, showing how she’s evolved from her early rom-com days.
Her retirement revival
After stepping away from acting following 2014’s Annie, Diaz focused on family life. She returned in 2022 to film Back in Action with Jamie Foxx, released in 2025, marking her official comeback. She’s since revealed that her husband encouraged her to step back into the industry, and clearly, she didn’t dip her toe in; she’s all in.
Beyond Outcome, she’s reprising her role as Fiona in Shrek 5, filming the action comedy Bad Day, and attached to multiple upcoming projects, like the thriller Reenactment alongside Ana de Armas and Benicio Del Toro, and a romantic comedy, “The Sham” with Stephen Merchant, for which she was recently spotted on set.
On March 13, Diaz was seen shooting the new romantic comedy in Manhattan’s West Village. Outside the Olive Tree Cafe & Comedy Cellar, Diaz bundled up in a long black leather coat, scarf, and lace-up boots, her blonde hair styled in loose curls.
According to reports, Merchant plays a British workaholic employed at a luxury New York hotel who needs a wife for appearances. Diaz plays a struggling stand-up comedian desperate for health insurance. The two agree to a fake marriage for practical reasons, only for the arrangement to evolve into something real.
