In July 2024, Christian Nodal and Ángela Aguilar officially tied the knot in a private civil ceremony. Following their quiet wedding at a hacienda in Morelos, fans were eagerly waiting for an announcement regarding their religious ceremony.
It wasn’t until this past November that the singer excitedly shared the news: they were set to officially seal the deal in May 2026. But with only a few weeks left on the clock, the singer-songwriter has announced that the celebration is officially postponed and he’s finally opening up about why he made such a drastic call.
Christian recently traveled to the Dominican Republic for a stop on his Pa’l Cora Tour, performing at Los Altos de Chavón on April 4th. During the trip with Ángela by his side, he sat down with host Moisés Salcé for an interview on the local Telemicro show Versión Original. While discussing his career, the Sonora native dropped a bombshell when he revealed that his religious wedding, originally set for next month, is no longer moving forward as planned.
Security Concerns and New Music Plans
Nodal shared that he has two new albums locked and loaded, with one slated for a May release and another coming next year. This prompted the host to ask if the first drop would coincide with his wedding or if they would be separate events.
“Is the album release going to be a simultaneous thing? Like, the album and the wedding together, or are they on different dates? ”Salcé asked.
“Hey, if you get an invite, you’ll find out,” the singer shot back with a grin, initially playing it off with a joke.
“No, no—there’s no plan to link the album release with the wedding or anything like that. We keep those things separate,” Nodal clarified, before finally revealing the reason for pushing back their religious ceremony. “We’d actually talked a lot about getting married in May and all that, but we’re postponing it because of… well, the current situation in Mexico,” the “Adiós Amor” singer explained, referring to the country’s ongoing security issues.
The singer-songwriter even opened up about a harrowing experience he and Ángela went through back in February. The couple found themselves caught in a crossfire in the municipality of Villanueva, Zacatecas, while heading to the airport. At the time, they were leaving “El Soyate,” the Aguilar family ranch—the very place rumored to be the intended venue for their religious wedding.
“We want it to be in Zacatecas, but not too long ago, things almost blew up on me in the car,” he said with a laugh, looking back on the incident with a sense of humor. “The thing is, it’s awful
Later in the interview, Nodal was pressed on a new date for the wedding. “Will it be this year or next?” Moisés asked.
“I don’t know… Honestly, we’re not going to do it until the situation in Mexico improves,” the singer replied.
Nodal Opens Up About His Love for Ángela: “She’s Asked for Nothing in Return”
Moisés Salcé asked Christian Nodal about the impact Ángela Aguilar has had on his life during his interview with Telemicro. The Sonora-born artist didn’t hesitate, immediately praising the young regional Mexican star’s character.
“I believe Ángela truly embodies her name; to me, she is an angel. I believe she’s saved me in so many ways; she’s filled my life with love and taught me so much,” the singer shared.
“Ultimately, I believe she is the one who truly demonstrated to me what love is. She’s the only person who has never asked for anything in return; she’s given me everything, even though she’s been dragged through the mud and had a challenging time for it,” Nodal admitted, referring to the harsh criticism his wife has faced since the start of their relationship.
“She’s with me until the end, and I’m with her until the end. I think this test that life and destiny have put us through is incredibly tough and intense, but thank God, we’re going to make it through together,” he added.
