What a difference a vacation makes! Craig Melvin returned to the Today Show studios feeling fresh and showing off a different look.
The host has been on vacation with his wife, Lindsay Czarniak and their kids, Delano and Sybil and decided to let his hair down.
The fun-loving dad-of-two showed off his off-camera appearance both on social media and to his co-hosts.
He looked a far cry from his clean-cut image, sporting stubble and a lot more hair than normal.
Vacation vibes
Alongside photos on social media he wrote: “My daughter wants me to post what I look like at the end of vacation week with no shaving and hair care. She’s not on ig bc she’s so young but seems to understand social media shaming nonetheless. Back to work tomorrow. See you there.”
While Lindsay commented that she thinks her husband looks “hot,” Carson Daly is not a fan.
He wrote: “You look terrible,” along with a crying with laughter emoji, as fans told him off for being rude.
While he’d groomed himself for his return to the Today, he shared before and after photos which Al Roker likened to a 1970s Beach Barbie and Dylan Dreyer agreed.
Family time
It looks like Craig had a wonderful vacation with his family where they snorkelled, spent time on the beach and enjoyed some rest and relaxation.
Ahead of their getaway, Craig opened up about the demands of the job and confessed on The Pivot podcast that he’s had to make “sacrifices” for his career.
“I’ve done morning television for a long time,” he shared. “People who are really good at something, you’re sacrificing time, sacrificing money, you’re sacrificing relationships. We’re all sacrificing something. For me, I had to make peace with what I was sacrificing.”
Lindsay is also a successful sports anchor and reporter. She is a FOX NFL and FOX NASCAR reporter for FOX Sports and previously worked for ESPN and SportsCenter.
But she says they manage to juggle their home and work life. “We make it work and it’s been very, very helpful to have someone who understands crazy hours.”
Craig and Lindsay live in the suburbs of Connecticut and although their careers mean they spend a fair amount of time apart, the Today anchor says: “It’s been hard, but thank God for FaceTime.”
Their son was born on March 10, 2014 and they welcomed their daughter on November 5, 2016.
