Duchess Sophie looked resplendent on Monday evening as she stepped out for an exhibition in London. Adhering to the warm weather the UK has been enjoying of late, the wife of Prince Edward donned a dazzling navy blue dress from beloved royal brand, Emilia Wickstead.
Identified by Royal British Fashion, Sophie wore the brand’s ‘Marione’ dress in a bold navy tone, etched with the famous Prince of Wales check. A take on the classic shirt dress, it features streamlined tailoring and feminine detailing, in the form of a long-sleeve, fit-and-flare cut and a belted waist.
Sophie clearly loves this style of dress – she’s worn various versions of it, including this fabulous white and blue floral version in 2025.
Tania Leslau, Fashion Features Editor at our sister title, HELLO! Fashion, points out that her ensemble is all about balance. “The Duchess of Edinburgh’s style leans into soft femininity,” she says, “something her latest look captures perfectly. Emilia Wickstead, a firm favourite in her wardrobe, strikes that sweet spot between tradition and romance,” she previously explained.
Sophie last wore the same navy blue dress in 2024, during a visit to the London College of Fashion. It’s the perfect versatile dress; it can be worn for both formal and work situations, due to the classic, timeless cut and unassuming shade.
Emilia Wickstead – a royal favourite
“The inspiration for the brand is definitely old-world couture,” Emilia herself previously told HELLO!.
The royal ladies, including the Princess of Wales, often wear her pieces. “Kate is a great brand ambassador for British designers, and it’s such an honour and privilege to think she would like to wear your clothing,” she exclusively told HELLO! in 2017. “There is so much talent in British fashion, a real cookie jar of different aesthetics with designers like Mary Katrantzou, Erdem, Christopher Kane, J.W. Anderson and Simone Rocha,” she added.
