George and Amal Clooney’s $18 million English mansion has been submerged in water by the recent floods that have hit Berkshire and south Oxfordshire in the United Kingdom. Rivers in the area have become saturated after weeks of heavy rainfall, with flood alerts issued across the country.

Boasting nine bedrooms and seven bathrooms, as well as sprawling reception rooms, an open-plan kitchen, a conservatory, and 5.5 acres of land, George and Amal’s house in Sonning is the epitome of luxury. However, its riverside location has resulted in the tennis court and garden covered with water after the banks burst. Sonning-on-Thames is a riverside village, which is a 45 minute train ride from the capital. The property, Aberdash House, is located on a 5.5 acre private island on the River Thames.

George and Amal acquired the UK home just before they wed in 2014, and moved in two years later after renovations. In a profile for British Vogue released in 2018, the reporter, Nathan Heller, headed to their island home on Sonning-on-Thames in Oxfordshire and described the Clooneys’ décor.

“The stately entry hall around us (towering ceilings, crisp Georgian molding) is trimmed with personal details. A softly faded Persian rug extends down the stone corridor. A side table, lit by a simple lamp, bears silver-framed black-and-white photos of her with her husband, George, and friends,” read the profile.

However, this isn’t the first time the Grade II-listed, 17th-century house has been affected by severe flooding. Back in January 2024, satellite photographs of the couple’s home showed that the grounds had been submerged with water after a heavy downpour broke across the  village of Sonning-on-Thames.

The disaster comes after the couple recently visited Milan for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games. Amal arrived hand in hand with her husband, George, with the pair in a coordinated black-and-navy palette, for Omega House’s Milano Cortina opening night held inside chef Carlo Cracco’s restaurant in Milan’s Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II.

Amal donned a ruched black gown that featured a sweetheart neckline and fishtail silhouette with a gathered central slit and layers of sheer tulle ruffles along the skirt. The international human rights lawyer accessorized with a black resin clutch bag adorned with gold hardware, diamond drop earrings, a gold bangle, and pointed-toe black pumps. Meanwhile, George looked suave in a dark navy suit layered over a crisp white shirt.

As she touched down in the Italian city, Amal wore a black mini dress and sheer tights, layering the ensemble with a black longline wool coat for a touch of ’90s minimalism. She styled the sleek look with Versace’s Leopard Slice Knee-High Boots, which feature a pointed-toe, stiletto heel, and pony-effect calf hair. Keeping with the Versace theme, George’s wife accessorized with the Versace Medusa ’95 Tote Bag in black smooth calf leather.
