Princess Anne has an unwavering reputation for being a hardworking member of the royal family, but it turns out that her fiercely loyal dedication is also met behind closed doors. When her brother, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, was surrounded by controversy and being ousted from his Royal Lodge home in Windsor, she reportedly offered to have him come and live with her at Gatcombe Park.

In a report by the Daily Mail, The Princess Royal supposedly called her brother on Christmas Day in 2025, when he was banished from the usual Sandringham celebrations, and proposed that he come and live with her in Gloucestershire, at her stately home. It is unknown if she was suggesting Andrew came into the main home or if there was a residence on site ear marked for the disgraced royal, as both of her children have separate properties on the grounds.

However, despite this generous offer, Anne’s upset over Andrew’s involvement with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein is said to have grown over time, as reported by the Mail. Now, Anne stands with her eldest brother Charles who stripped Andrew of his titles and exiled him.

The 75-year-old royal lives at Gatcombe with her husband of 33 years, Sir Timothy Laurence. The couple live a lowkey life behind closed doors and an image they shared during the pandemic went viral for their royal living room being so relatable, with a TV in front of the sofa and general lived-in look with piles of books and paperwork dotted around.

Andrew’s new home

Andrew has since ended up living at King Charles’ Sandringham Estate instead, after relinquishing the lease on his 30-room mansion. Currently he is holed up at Wood Farm, Prince Phillip’s old home where he lived after he retired from public duties in 2017, but there are imminent plans for him to move into Marsh Farm. The farmhouse property has been completely renovated ahead of Andrew’s arrival, including the addition of luxury carpets and Sky TV.

Reports suggested that the former Prince would be moving into his new home sometime in April, and now three large blue removal vans have been seen pulling into the drive of the property. Removal lorries from Gander and White, which has a Royal Warrant, arrived in the morning of Tuesday 17 March and were carrying loads of Andrew’s paintings, presumably from his former home in Windsor.

Andrew’s new neighbours in the village have had a mixed reaction to his arrival the owner of the neighbouring pub, The Black Horse Inn, has said when we spoke to him last month. “It’s a 50/50 split, some are disgusted with his potential behaviour, but others say he hasn’t been convicted and he’s innocent until proven guilty. I sit somewhere in the middle.”
