Georgina Rodriguez has reacted to Portugal’s loss in the World Cup. Yesterday, following a complicated game between Portugal and Spain, a last-minute goal ended Portugal’s dreams of winning the tournament. It also marked the end of Cristiano Ronaldo’s journey with his country, with him making it clear that this would be the last tournament he’d be playing in.
Rodriguez shared her thoughts on Instagram, sharing reactions to her children watching the start of the match. One of the images showed one of her sons with his arms raised in front of the TV as they saw Portugal’s starting lineup.
Following the game’s 1-0 conclusion, Rodriguez shared a Nike repost paying tribute to Ronaldo’s incredible legacy in the sport. The post showed Ronaldo’s profile and read “His legacy lives on.” Rodriguez added a heart emoji.

It’s been an emotional tournament for Ronaldo, with many criticizing his early performances and then praising his goals.
In a press conference ahead of the game with Spain, Ronaldo opened up about his desire to continue to play. “It’s about enjoying it as much as possible,” he said, per ESPN. “This will be my last World Cup, but let’s hope tomorrow isn’t my last game.”
“The day will come [when I retire from international football]. But I’ll be honest. Whatever happens tomorrow, Cristiano will leave with a clear conscience, not 100%, but 1,000%. Because I’ve given everything in football,” he said. “I don’t need it, I have a good life, but it’s about passion. I play football because I love it … You have to enjoy every day. And I’ve scored three goals [at this World Cup], I’m not doing too badly, right?”

“It was my last World Cup, yes. But as for the rest, there’s time to think, to be with my family, and not say things in the heat of the moment.”
Ronaldo leaves the Portugal National Team without a World Cup title, but with numerous achievements under his belt, including taking the country to its first Euro Cup win in 2016. At this World Cup, Ronaldo became the first player to score in six tournaments. He also scored his first goal in the knockout rounds.
