Rosalía’s LUX Tour continues to deliver memorable surprises, and her second consecutive sold-out show at Madison Square Garden in New York City featured an unexpected appearance from comedian Marcello Hernández.
The Saturday Night Live star joined the Spanish singer onstage on June 17 as part of one of the tour’s signature moments. Before performing “La Perla,” Rosalía invites a celebrity guest to participate in a confessional-style segment, where they are encouraged to share a completely honest story with the audience.
“Marcello, you know we’re here. You can speak in Spanish, in English, however you want,” Rosalía told him. “But it’s important to tell the truth here.”
Hernández responded with a story he said he had never shared publicly before.
“Well, I have a story I’ve never told before. It happened to me 10 years ago,” he began.
The comedian explained that he was around 18 or 19 years old and had planned what he hoped would be a romantic Valentine’s Day dinner.
Determined to impress his date, he taught himself how to cook using a YouTube tutorial, carefully set the table with formal place settings and purchased two bottles of wine.
“I bought two bottles of wine with my fake ID. I committed a crime for this lady,” Hernández joked, drawing laughter from both Rosalía and the crowd.
One bottle was meant to accompany dinner and the other was for drinks afterward. But despite all his preparation, the date never arrived.
According to Hernández, the woman repeatedly told him she was running late before eventually failing to show up altogether.
“She told me she was on her way. Then she said she was a little late. Then she said she was really late,” he recalled. “And then I drank the bottle of wine while on FaceTime with my mom.”
The punchline brought laughter throughout Madison Square Garden and served as the perfect introduction to “La Perla,” a song whose title is often used sarcastically in Spanish to describe someone who is troublesome or badly behaved.
Hernández ended the story on a positive note, telling the audience that his current partner “is a diamond.”
The comedian’s appearance was one of several standout moments from Rosalía’s New York stop. The singer successfully sold out both nights at the iconic venue, marking another major milestone in her North American tour.
Now, after two sold-out nights at Madison Square Garden, Rosalía continues her LUX Tour with upcoming stops in Chicago, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and other cities across North America.
Following a family emergency that forced the postponement of the tour’s opening Florida dates, those concerts have been rescheduled for September, including performances in Orlando and Miami.
