Nicki Minaj said Wednesday that she is President Donald Trump’s “number one fan,” stating that her support for him will not change despite criticism from others.

“I will say that I am probably the president’s No. 1 fan,” Minaj told the audience at a Treasury Department-hosted summit in Washington. The event marked the launch of “Trump Accounts,” a program providing trust funds for children born between 2025 and 2028.

“And that’s not going to change,” she added. “The hate or what people have to say, it does not affect me at all. It actually motivates me to support him more, and it’s going to motivate all of us to support him more.”

Minaj, who was born Onika Maraj, also said, “We’re not going to let them get away with bullying him and the smear campaigns. It’s not going to work, OK? He has a lot of force behind him, and God is protecting him.”

Trump joined Minaj on stage and praised her career, calling her “the greatest and most successful female rapper in history” and thanking her for donating “hundreds of thousands of dollars” to the Trump Accounts initiative.

“I just think she’s great,” Trump said. “I didn’t know Nicki, and I’ve been hearing over the years she’s a big Trump supporter, or Trump fan. And she took a little heat on occasion because her community isn’t necessarily a Trump fan.”

During the event, Trump also held Minaj’s hand and joked about her long painted nails, saying, “I’m going to let my nails grow because I love those nails. I’m going to let those nails grow.”

Minaj has shifted in recent years from a previously neutral stance on Trump to a more public display of support. In 2020, she said she would not “jump on the Donald Trump bandwagon.”

Last month, she appeared at Turning Point USA’s annual conference and said, “I have the utmost respect and admiration for our president. He has, I don’t know if he even knows this, but he’s given so many people hope that there’s a chance to beat the bad guys and to win and to do it with your head held high and your integrity intact. He’s from Queens, New York, like me.”

At Wednesday’s summit, Minaj also announced a financial contribution to support the Trump Accounts program. Reports indicate she will contribute between $150,000 and $300,000 to fund accounts for her fans, known as “Barbz.”

In a post on X referencing Wednesday’s event, Minaj wrote, “The true meaning of paying it forward. Early financial literacy & financial support for our children will give them a major head start in life.”
