The stars are in Milan for Fashion Week, and February 27 saw one of the most anticipated shows – Gucci FW26. Among the celebrities in the front row was Demi Moore, who has gone viral with her dramatic, almost unrecognizable look. The 63-year-old icon who has famously worn her long locks for decades arrived with a short, blunt, black bob.
The Academy Award-nominated actress stole the show when she arrived at Palazzo delle Scintille on February 27. Celebrity hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos was responsible for the fierce look.
© GettyMoore and Giannetos shared photos of the new ‘do on their Instagrams, and the biggest question on everybody’s mind is, “Is it a wig?” “OMG, she cut her hair?!” “This is a wig, right?” is among some of the desperate fans looking for answers.
While there are some commenters disappointed at the thought of her cutting her hair, like one who wrote, “Omg, why looks beautiful but her hair was so gorgeous and long,” the majority of them are positive, hoping she really did chop it all off. “I Can’t Even!! You just took 20 years off of her and made her even cooler. This is awesome. This is groundbreaking,” one person wrote.
They posted a video that came with even more people praising the look. “She looks so much better with this hairstyle,” “Omg this hair!!! Go off queen,” and: The hair looks amazing! It’s been so long for so long, and this just looks so fresh!” were among some of the comments.
As for whether or not it’s her real hair, it seems like it might be! She shared a photo on Instagram declaring in the caption, “A bold, beautiful new chapter begins!”
The bob was styled to appear wet, and her look was just as powerful. She rocked an all-black leather Gucci look with pointed heels and oversized glasses. Fans immediately compared it to the Matrix, saying she was giving some serious Trinity vibes.

© Getty ImagesOne of the reasons fans are so shocked to see the short hair is that the Substance star has been very outspoken about her attachment to her long strands.
In a January 2026 press release, the Academy Award-nominated actress and New York Times bestselling author shared, “There’s a real freedom in letting your hair simply be itself and allowing it to tell your story. That, to me, is what beauty is all about — being authentic and embracing who you are,” per PEOPLE.
© Getty ImagesShe also shared her appreciation of wigs, saying her hair “feels most like me.” “Being able to change my look with wigs and pieces feeds my need for change, but at the end of the day, I love taking it down, seeing my hair fall past my waist. It’s like coming home,” she said.
In 2025, she told Glamour her hair was also a way of challenging societal pressure that women need to cut their hair as they get older. “[We often hear] that as women get older, they shouldn’t have long hair,” Moore told the outlet. “And for some reason, to me, I didn’t buy it. I didn’t believe it, and it didn’t make sense to me why that had to be the case,” she continued.
“And I did notice, particularly women who were going through menopause, that they were…I was looking around and seeing that they all were kind of cutting their hair in a very almost masculine way, just desexualizing themselves. And so I think there was a combination of this attachment to it, too. I don’t know. Sometimes I think I’ve just willed it,” Moore added.
