Jack Nicholson may be one of Hollywood’s most iconic leading men, but in recent years, he has chosen a life far from the spotlight, which is why a rare new glimpse into his world has captured hearts.
To celebrate his 89th birthday, the actor’s daughter, Lorraine Nicholson, shared a touching Instagram Story that offered fans an intimate look at the legendary star at home. The understated post, simply captioned “89!!”, spoke volumes.
In the candid image, Jack appeared relaxed and content, seated in a cozy living room surrounded by warm light and artwork. Dressed casually in a dark polo and rust-toned trousers, he smiled as he clapped his hands, seemingly caught mid-celebration.
Alongside the present-day photo, a second image shared in the Story offered a nostalgic contrast. A young Jack lounged effortlessly in a bright red “Drink Coca-Cola” T-shirt, a cigar in hand and that unmistakable grin lighting up the frame.
For fans, the post is particularly meaningful given Jack’s long-standing retreat from public life. Once a constant presence on screens and at high-profile events, the three-time Oscar winner has rarely been seen in recent years.
The 89-year-old is a father of six, although remains closest with his two kids with ex Rebecca Broussard, Lorraine, 35, and Raymond “Ray,” 33, both of whom are also actors.

That bond was evident in another photo of the actor shared on Instagram last year by Lorraine, his first appearance in nearly 10 months. This came after his surprise cameo at the Saturday Night Live 50th anniversary celebration in February, which he attended with Lorraine, where he introduced Adam Sandler.
“A November to remember,” she captioned a carousel of photos, which included one of her with Jack and Ray, seemingly from a family celebration, in which the veteran actor looked to be in good spirits. She also included photos with her reported new boyfriend, director Jason Reitman.

His final film role in How Do You Know was even more poignant, however, given he worked under James L. Brooks, the director who led him to Oscars for performances in 1983’s Terms of Endearment and 1997’s As Good As It Gets.
