Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s July 3rd wedding was the star-studded event of the year, with A-listers like Brad Pitt, Selena Gomez, Paul McCartney and Gigi Hadid all in attendance. The happy couple, who got engaged in August 2025, wed at Madison Square Garden in New York City in front of 1,000 guests, where Adam Sandler served as the officiant.
However, fans were left shocked after the “Cruel Summer” singer’s friend, actress Jaime King, did not attend the wedding, despite Taylor being her son’s godmother. Jaime’s absence, paired with that of Taylor’s ex-best friend, Blake Lively, caused many to theorize that the pop superstar had fallen out with Jaime in recent years.
The Hart of Dixie star’s publicist, Jane Owen, cleared up rumors of a feud in a statement, revealing that Jaime did not attend the big day due to family commitments.
“[Jaime’s son] Leo Thames is still too young for a large adult wedding celebration, but he and his mother were able to joyfully celebrate Taylor and Kelce’s marriage in his own very special, age-appropriate way during his summer break,” the statement read.
It continued: “The reason Jaime chose Taylor as Leo Thames’s godmother is because they both believe that being a godmother is a deeply personal and spiritual commitment that has nothing to do with public appearances.”
Jaime shares her sons Leo Thames, 10 and James Knight, 12, with her ex-husband, Kyle Newman. The pair married in 2007 yet parted ways in 2020, and the mother of two lost custody of her boys in March 2025. A judge ruled at the time that Jaime’s visits with Leo and James were to be supervised until she finished an addiction program.
Jaime and Taylor first met in 2014 at a Golden Globes afterparty, and quickly became close friends. Her then-husband, Kyle, directed the singer’s music video for her track “Style”, and Taylor was named as Leo’s godmother in 2015.

The 47-year-old opened up about choosing Taylor for the position, sharing that she was the perfect role model. “I always thought if I were to have another child that she would be the ideal godmother because the way she not only treats me but the way she treats other human beings,” Jaime told E! News.
“She’s so loving and so giving and so generous, and she does everything from her heart, and she’s incredibly brave and authentic. It’s a very rare thing to come across. I know that [our baby] will always have a very good person and role model through her.”
Although Jaime and Taylor seem to have drifted apart in recent years, the blonde beauty told Us Weekly that she couldn’t have been happier for her friend when news of her engagement to Travis broke in 2025. “Yeah, I’m [expletive] stoked,” she said. “Like, this is absolutely, this is the person. This is her person. Yeah, I’m so happy.”
Jaime was not the only friend absent from Taylor and Travis’ wedding; Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, who were once incredibly close with the 36-year-old, were spotted 300 miles from MSG on the wedding day, attending a horse show that their daughter was competing in.
Blake and Taylor’s friendship reportedly soured in 2025 amid the actress’s legal battle with Justin Baldoni.
