Jeff Brazier is an adoring first-time grandfather in heartwarming photos with his newborn granddaughter. The presenter, whose son Freddy, 21, recently welcomed his first child his ex Holly Swinburn, 22, penned a heartfelt tribute to the newest addition to the Brazier family – and the baby girl’s name has a very sweet connection to her late grandmother, Jade Goody.
“Dear Isla Jade,” Jeff began on Instagram with a photo of him lovingly holding his granddaughter in his arms.
“You have no idea how deeply loved you are. There are so many good people standing behind you, and a very special angel watching over you. Mummy and Daddy gave you her name, and were going to tell you all about her,” he wrote, revealing Isla’s middle name was a meaningful tribute to his late partner Jade Goody, who was the mother to his two sons, Freddy and Bobby. Jade passed away in 2009, aged 28, after a battle with cervical cancer. Jeff shared the photos of his newborn granddaughter on the 17-year anniversary of Jade’s passing.
He continued: “You already feel like the greatest gift. I will be forever grateful to Mummy and Daddy for filling my heart and bringing such joy into our lives. Thank you, Holly and Freddy, with all my heart.
“Holding you is pure peace,” Jeff added, signing off with: “All my love, Grandad. (Though you’re welcome to call me something a bit cooler when you’re older!)”
Freddy is Jeff’s youngest son
The This Morning presenter was in a relationship with his late partner Jade from 2002 to 2004. The couple, who started dating after Jade appeared on Big Brother season three, welcomed their first child, Bobby, now 22, in 2003. They then had their second son, Freddy, in 2004. While Jade and Jeff split shortly after becoming parents for the second time, they continued to co-parent until Jade sadly passed away on 22 March 2009 – close to Mother’s Day.
Jeff reflected on the family’s loss in an emotional Mother’s Day tribute post this year ahead of Freddy becoming a first-time dad. “Sitting on the verge of welcoming a beautiful, cherished new life into our family, today was about sitting in the discomfort of what we’ve lost, while also preparing excitedly for what we’re about to gain,” the presenter wrote.
“Turns out there is room for all things – the emotions, the sentiments, the grief and the gratitude. Life doesn’t ask us to choose one feeling over the other. It simply asks us to hold them both. And somehow… the heart makes space. A coincidence that our little one should arrive around this time of year?” he added.
Jeff and Freddy’s ‘quality time’ ahead of granddaughter
Jeff and his youngest son took a special father and son bonding trip in November ahead of the exciting new addition to their family. Jeff captured selfies and photos of his 21-year-old from their camper adventure in Lyme Regis, Dorset.
“It was so good to spend some quality time with @freddybrazier_ with so much to talk about with the little one headed our way next year we walked and chatted for hours every day and let nature do the rest,” Jeff gushed on Instagram.
“I love you, Dad! Thank you for a beautiful caravan trip, I loved every minute of it except the ones where you were telling me things I need to hear,” Freddy replied to his dad in the comments, to which Jeff replied: “We all need someone who loves us enough to tell us the truth.
“Thank you so much for our conversations. I’m with you all the way,” Jeff added.
