Jennifer Garner is returning to the world of one of her most famous movies. “13 Going on 30,” the classic of Millennial youth that stars Garner as a 13-year-old girl who makes a wish to become a stylish and successful 30-year-old woman, is getting a reboot for a new generation. Garner is involved in the project. Here’s what we know.
The revival is being developed by Netflix, with new stars taking over the roles. In the original, Garner played the lead role, while Mark Ruffalo played her love interest. Judy Greer also memorably played Garner’s frenemy, with the two women developing a friendship off-camera that remains strong to this day. This time around, the cast will be made up of Emily Bader, who successfully led Netflix’s “People We Meet on Vacation,” and Logan Lerman.
The film will be directed by Brett Haley, who directed “People We Meet on Vacation,” with Hannah Marks as a writer, who’s previously written films like “Mark, Mary, & Some Other People,” and “After Everything.”
Garner is stepping into a producer’s role, serving as an executive producer, a role that she’s begun fulfilling more and more in recent years, with her currently starring and producing in the TV show “The Last Thing He Told Me.”
“I’m a longtime fan, so stepping into this reimagining comes with tremendous responsibility. Jennifer Garner being on board as an executive producer, after playing such a big part of what made the original special, is especially meaningful,” said Haley in a statement.
“I also couldn’t be more excited to reunite with Emily Bader after ‘People We Meet on Vacation,'” he continued. “She and the amazingly talented Logan Lerman are a magical pairing. I feel incredibly lucky to be trusted with something that means so much to so many people.”
