Jennifer Lopez’s dating life has long made headlines, and one thing you can say about her history is that her exes are all pretty diverse. From Ojani Noa to Marc Anthony, and to Ben Affleck, JLo doesn’t really seem to have a type.

The singer has dated athletes, singers, actors, and singers from all backgrounds

She made that clear on Kareem Rahma’s viral talk show Subway Takes.  The singer and actress opened up about what actually catches her attention in a suitor, and she exclaimed, “I don’t discriminate.”

For Lopez, physical traits are ultimately secondary to something much deeper. “I like skinny guys. I like a little chunk around the middle. I like beards. I like being clean-shaven. It doesn’t matter,” she said. “I like the person inside.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Lopez shared a refreshing take on heartbreak, arguing that breakups shouldn’t automatically be viewed as failures. “Breakups are not a failure,” she said. “I honestly feel like it’s a launchpad into your next best self.”

She even suggested that breakups deserve a celebration. “We should have a party when we break up,” she joked. “People should say, ‘You broke up? Congratulations.’”

Behind the humor, anyone who has had to pull the plug on a relationship knows you really do learn from something ending, and it usually doesn’t come easily. “Because, one, you made a decision,” she explained. “Two, it was probably the best thing for everybody.”

She also had a word of wisdom for the people who go around life breaking hearts: “If you go around your life and you’re breaking hearts … you’re the loser,” she said.

Lopez also didn’t shy away from discussing the emotional aftermath of heartbreak. “The biggest growth spurts I’ve had emotionally, mentally, psychologically have always come from a heartbreak,” she said.

The Selena star explained that she believes pain has a way of forcing clarity. “It’s the only time you dig,” she said. “You’re like, ‘What the f— happened? … What could I have done better?’” And that kind of reflection, she says, is what ultimately changes you.

The conversation comes after romance rumors swirled around Lopez and her Office Romance co-star Brett Goldstein. But a People insider told  the outlet in May she’s “in a great place on her own right now though and doesn’t need a relationship to feel happy.”

While the 56-year-old is enjoying her life as a single woman, her most recent famous ex-husband, Affleck, has also been keeping to himself. But last month, it was revealed that he was “open to putting himself out there again” and isn’t “ruling out dating.”

They said he has friends who are ready to play wingman and set him up, but they noted that he’s “incredibly busy right now and isn’t sure he has the time for a serious, committed relationship.”

But his ex-wife Jennifer Garner reportedly thinks it might be good for Affleck to take a break from dating for “a while.”

Time will tell if we ever see the parties involved with Bennifer 2.0 happy in love again.
