Kate Middleton’s sweet joke about Prince Louis reveals what sets him apart from George and Charlotte

Prince Louis may be growing up quickly, but there is one family resemblance that has followed the young royal since he was a toddler.

The eight-year-old has long been compared to his mother, Kate Middleton, and according to a friend of the Princess of Wales, it is a comparison that Kate herself finds particularly sweet.

Back in 2020, when Louis was just two years old, a friend told People that those close to the family frequently noticed how much the young prince resembled his mother.

“Everyone always comments on how Louis is the spitting image of Kate,” the friend told the publication at the time, adding that the royal mom “loves it and thinks it’s very sweet.”

According to the friend, Kate even had a running joke about the resemblance, saying Louis was “the only one of her kids who actually looks like her.”

Six years later, the comparison is arguably even easier to see.

Louis, the youngest of the Prince and Princess of Wales’ three children, shares several features with his mother, particularly when current photographs of the young royal are placed alongside pictures of Kate at a similar age.

Their brown eyes, smiles and expressive faces have all fueled comparisons over the years. The resemblance has occasionally become especially striking when the royal family’s photographs are compared with images from Kate’s own childhood.

Louis also appears to carry features from the wider Middleton family, with comparisons frequently drawn between the young prince and his maternal grandfather, Michael Middleton.

Kate and Prince William welcomed Prince George in July 2013, followed by Princess Charlotte in May 2015 and Prince Louis in April 2018.

While all three children naturally carry features from both sides of their family, Louis’ resemblance to Kate has been a particularly persistent talking point.

Charlotte has also increasingly drawn comparisons to her mother as she gets older. In recent years, the mother and daughter have even appeared strikingly similar during joint outings, while Charlotte’s lighter hair has also been compared to William’s when he was young.

Louis, meanwhile, has developed a public personality all his own. The youngest Wales child has become known for his animated expressions and playful moments during major royal appearances, often stealing the show alongside his older siblings.

And while the 2020 comment about Louis being Kate’s only lookalike came through a family friend rather than directly from the Princess, it revealed just how much she reportedly enjoyed seeing a little of herself in her youngest child.
