Maddox Jolie-Pitt is adopting a new name. The son of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt has shared his new name in the credits of his new movie, “Couture.”
Jolie stars in the film, with Maddox serving as one of the project’s assistant directors. As reported by PEOPLE, Maddox’s name appeared in the credits as Maddox Jolie. He becomes the latest of his siblings in dropping their dad’s last name.
The film premiered in France last week and had previously premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, with the credits listing him as Maddox Jolie.
The change is noteworthy since Maddox has collaborated with his mother in different films in the past. His most recent was “Maria,” 2024, where he worked as a production assistant and listed his name on the credits as Maddox Jolie-Pitt
According to Jolie, Maddox is a man of many talents. Apart from his work on film sets, he’s also multilingual and a pilot, like her.
“I am a pilot,” she said in an appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” “And my son Maddox is training to be a pilot too. He, actually, he is a pilot now.”
The Jolie-Pitt kids’ decision to drop their father’s surname
Maddox is not the first of Jolie and Pitt’s kids to drop their dad’s last name. In 2024, Vivienne, the couple’s youngest daughter, was credited on the Broadway musical as Jolie’s assistant, listing her name as Vivienne Jolie. That same year, a video of Zahara made its way online, showing her introducing herself as Zahara Jolie.
On her 18th birthday, Shiloh filed for a new legal name, adopting Shiloh Jolie. According to insiders, the change in last name is due to the strained relationships between the kids and Pitt.
As reported by PEOPLE, Pitt is hurt by these developments. “He’s never felt more joy than when she was born. He always wanted a daughter,” said a source. “The reminders that he’s lost his children, is of course not easy for Brad. He loves his children and misses them. It’s very sad.”
