Melania Trump is known for her privacy. Over her years as First Lady, she’s maintained some distance from the public, rarely sharing details of her private life and even disappearing from the public eye for weeks at a time. A recent appearance on Fox News featured her candidly discussing her family life and the challenges of juggling work while spending time with your husband and college-aged son.
Trump was featured on Fox News’ The Big Money Show, where she was asked about how much time she spent with her 20-year-old son Barron Trump.
“You are so busy and such an inspiration to young moms out there as well who are trying to do it all—run businesses, charities, organize state dinners, run a family,” said the co-host, Taylor Riggs.
“Do you still try to get your family together for Sunday night dinners or try to see Barron when you can? What are pieces of advice for moms who feel like they’re so stretched thin, trying to do it all, but at the end of the day just want maybe a dinner at night with their family?” she asked.
© Mega/The Grosby GroupTrump had a practical answer. “It’s good to schedule, right?” she said. “It’s always good because everybody’s so busy.”
She then shared a more intimate look at her everyday life. “My husband is working—sometimes he’s in the Oval Office till 9:30 at night, right? So do you wait that you will have dinner? You don’t, because he’s busy. I’m busy too.”
“It’s less and less family time. It’s suffering because of it,” she continued. “But that’s OK. We are here to work, to do a good job, and that’s what matters. And Barron is already a young man, so sometimes he’s maybe even happy that, you know, I just want to do my stuff. And that’s okay.”

Earlier this year, Melania shared some rare updates about her relationship with Barron Trump, revealing that their Slovenian heritage plays an important part in their bond.
“Barron and my mother shared a lovely bond through the Slovenian language, a beautiful connection that celebrates their heritage,” she told USA Today. “Both speaking the same language allowed them to communicate deeply and meaningfully.”
Melania’s mother, Amalija, died in 2024.
