NASCAR legend Kyle Busch’s tragic and unexpected death on May 21 has rocked the sporting world, after the race car driver became sick with sepsis following a bout of severe pneumonia.
The 41-year-old, who had planned to race in the Coca-Cola 600 on May 24 in Charlotte, North Carolina, was rushed to hospital on May 20 while coughing up blood and struggling to breathe.
He passed away a day later, leaving behind his wife, Samantha Busch, and their two children, 11-year-old Brexton and four-year-old Lennix.
In an eerie turn of events for the Busch family, a clip has resurfaced online of Samantha detailing the possibility of having another child if Kyle passed away. The pair welcomed their two kids via IVF – and even founded the Bundle of Joy Fund together to help other families access IVF treatments – and had kept some of Samantha’s embryos for the future.
“Here’s something I’ve never told anybody,” she said on the Certified Oversharer podcast in November 2025. “I’m a certified over-sharer. So a lot of people ask me what we have done with our embryos because we still have some.“
“I can’t part with them. We are paying to freeze them until…they’re going to have to come with me. I don’t know what else to do at this point because I love them so much and can’t make a decision.” She continued: “Kyle was like, ‘We’re done having kids,‘ and I said, ‘But what if?‘”

Kyle’s reaction was far from what Samantha expected. “He was like, ‘What is wrong with you?‘,” she recalled, “and I was like, ‘These are the things I think about Kyle. I love being a mom, and I have never told anybody that until I told you.‘”

Kyle was considered to be one of the greatest NASCAR drivers in history, having won more races throughout his career than any before him.
