Pierce Brosnan is wearing fatherhood quite well it seems!

The actor, 73, is a proud dad of five, welcoming his son Sean with his late first wife, Cassandra Harris. He also raised her two children from her previous marriage, Chris and Charlotte. While Chris now lives a private life away from the public eye, Charlotte tragically passed away in 2013.

In 2001, he tied the knot with journalist Keely Shaye Smith, welcoming sons Dylan and Paris together. Pierce is now close with Sean and his two youngest sons, with Keely, 62, sharing a doting Father’s Day tribute to her husband.

She took to her Instagram page with a photo of the actor sporting a more casual look for the beach, rocking his silver stubble and wavy hair, plus that signature 007 appeal.

“Happy Father’s Day my love @piercebrosnanofficial …and Happy Father’s Day to all fathers who give their hearts and souls to their families and children,” she captioned the image.

Fans quickly took to the comments section to rave over the James Bond star, with responses like: “He’s the Dad we all imagined our Dads were in secret,” and: “Still that boyish look,” plus: “Happy Father’s Day Remington,” referencing his other most iconic role, Remington Steele.

The actor didn’t know much about fatherhood before becoming one himself, given his father, Thomas Brosnan, left his family when he was just an infant.

Speaking with Esquire, the Irish star noted: “I know what it’s like to bring up sons. It can be a very arduous road… My fatherly instincts are purely my own. They relate back to no one, because there was no one.”

His mother moved to London to raise money for the family when he was just a child, leaving Pierce to be brought up by relatives. He remains very close with his mother May, and has only met his father once, recalling a meeting with him at the age of 31 while filming an episode of Remington Steele.

“I had a Sunday afternoon with him… [we shared] a story about this and that, had a few pints of Guinness, and we said goodbye,” he remembered. “I would have loved to have known him. He was a good whistler and he had a good walk…. That’s as much as I know about him.”

The actor also dealt with the tragedy of losing his wife Cassandra and daughter Charlotte to ovarian cancer, an experience that has stayed with him in the decades since. “I don’t look at the cup as half full, believe me,” he told Esquire. “The dark, melancholy Irish black dog sits beside me from time to time.”

Pierce and Cassandra, an Australian actress, were married for 11 years. She became sick and was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 1987, passing away in 1991 at the age of just 43. It was the late Cassandra who had frequently encouraged her husband to take on the role of James Bond, especially after she was cast as Countess Lisl von Schlaf in 1981’s For Your Eyes Only.

He was offered the part in 1987 after Remington Steele had been canceled, however the show’s renewal left him contractually obligated to turn it down. In 1994, he was eventually announced for the part, playing 007 in four films from 1995 to 2002.
