The Wales children made their first public appearance of the year on Easter Sunday. While it’s been 14 weeks since Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis were last out with their parents on Christmas Day, the children looked more grown up as they joined King Charles, Queen Camilla and other members of the royal family at the traditional Easter Sunday Mattins Service at St. George’s Chapel.

Growth spurt since the holidays

At only 12 years old, Prince George is almost as tall as his mother, the Princess of Wales, in heels. Back on Christmas Day, a well-wisher remarked that George is going to be six-foot-four, to which Catherine replied: “I know, I swear, he’s catching up with everybody, isn’t he?” He certainly is. His father, Prince William, is six-foot-three, while his mother, who he shares the same shoe size with, is five-foot-nine.

Louis is also stretching. The little Prince, long dubbed the “baby boss,” is a baby no more. Louis, who turns eight on 23 April, has gotten noticeably taller since Christmas and is beginning to lose his baby face.

Growing in confidence

As the children have grown, so too has their demeanor. Though Prince George, second in line to the throne, has appeared shy in the past, Prince William and Catherine’s firstborn now carries himself with greater ease and composure. Just last year, at a tea party for veterans at Buckingham Palace, a source told HELLO! that George was “the star of the room” and was “engrossed in conversation with many of the veterans.” He also exuded “positive self-confidence” at Trooping the Colour 2025.

With his 13th birthday approaching this summer, the Prince is preparing to transition to a new school this year. However, whether he will follow in his father’s footsteps at Eton College or attend his mother’s alma mater, Marlborough College, remains to be seen.

While his younger sister turns 11 in May, Princess Charlotte continues to project poise well beyond her years. It’s a trait that was on display once again on Sunday as Charlotte, dressed in her bespoke Catherine Walker coat, waved while walking to the chapel with her family. Taking after her mother, but the spitting image of her dad, Charlotte carries herself with natural grace and a presence that feels every inch a princess.

For years, the Waleses’ daughter, once described as a “Princess Anne in the making,” has impressed with her confidence and sense of duty, keeping her little brother in check…although she didn’t have to on Sunday.

Seven-year-old Prince Louis, known for being a scene-stealer, was composed as he stood in his navy suit and tie with his hands adorably tucked behind his back. Both he and his sister waved as they left after the service.

The future

Although they are members of the British royal family, George, Charlotte and Louis are still children at the end of the day, making their behavior all the more impressive with each public outing, as they grow up under the watchful eyes of the world and prepare for the roles they are expected to one day take on.

Sunday 5 April marked William, Catherine and their kids’ first time celebrating Easter with the royal family since 2023, when Louis made his debut. Holidays like Easter and Christmas offer a glimpse into how much the children are changing, from their height and presence to the confidence they demonstrate in public.

As the Prince and Princess of Wales stepped out with their children on Easter 2026, they presented a picture of unity and strength amid a challenging period for the royal family. The Waleses are the future of the monarchy, and with the way George, Charlotte and Louis are growing up, it appears it will be in capable hands.
