As speculation surrounding Prince George’s future education reaches a fever pitch, royal watchers are increasingly focused on one question. Where will the future king attend secondary school?

While no official decision has been announced, Prince William and Princess Kate are reportedly keeping several options on the table and are in no rush to reveal their final choice.

Royal experts say privacy is a key factor in the school decision

According to royal commentators, the Waleses are deliberately delaying any announcement until the last possible moment to reduce intense media attention on whichever school is selected, along with its students and staff.

Among the leading contenders is Eton College, the prestigious all-boys boarding school attended by both Prince William and Prince Harry.

The school offers a practical advantage, sitting just minutes from the family’s Windsor home. Another possibility is Marlborough College, Princess Kate’s alma mater and a school believed to hold special personal significance for her.

Oundle School, a co-educational institution in Northamptonshire, has also emerged as a strong candidate after recent visits by the Wales family.

Speaking on the Daily Mail’s “Palace Confidential” podcast, royal biographer Andrew Morton suggested that Oundle could appeal to the Prince and Princess of Wales because it would potentially accommodate all three of their children.

“George is looking every inch a very handsome young man, and the big debate is now: where are they going to send him to school?” Morton said.

The final decision on Prince George’s school is expected to draw significant public interest

He continued, “My guess is Oundle. They have already been there to have a look round. Maybe that’s going to be the school for [Princess] Charlotte too. They could decide to send all three of them to the same school, and a mixed private school would fit the bill.”

Yet some royal experts believe an all-boys environment may ultimately prove more attractive for reasons that extend beyond academics or tradition.

During the same episode of “Palace Confidential,” royal expert Richard Kay suggested that a boys-only school such as Eton could help shield Prince George from a level of public scrutiny few teenagers could imagine facing.

“An all boys school avoids those awkward opportunities for someone to get a photograph of him perhaps having his first snog with a girl and the explosion of interest that would create,” Kay explained.

The comment highlights a unique challenge facing the young royal. As second in line to the throne, even ordinary teenage milestones could become international headlines if captured by photographers.

Kay also pointed to the strong family connection between Prince George and Eton College.

“The other thing to remember is that the Waleses live literally on top of Eton College. It was also where William went to school. He had very happy school days there.”

For now, the debate remains unresolved. Prince George continues to attract growing public interest as he gets older, making his educational future one of the most closely watched decisions facing the Wales family.

Wherever he ultimately enrolls, the announcement is expected to spark significant discussion across both the British media and royal circles.

Meanwhile, Prince George’s younger siblings, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, remain students at Lambrook School in Berkshire.

Looking ahead, royal observers have floated Wellington College and Marlborough College as possible secondary school options for them, though no decisions have been confirmed.
