Prince Louis brought his signature personality to the sporting event, flashing a big smile during his day in Glasgow.

The funny sibling exchange unfolded as Prince William and Kate Middleton joined Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis for a visit with Team Wales at Wales House.

While chatting with gymnasts Abigail and Emily Roper, sisters who both earned bronze medals at the Games, the conversation turned to the royal children’s own athletic interests.

William shared that Charlotte loves gymnastics and ballet, before Kate revealed that Louis has been working on an impressive skill of his own.

“Louis, you’re perfecting your handstand at the moment,” the Princess of Wales told her youngest son. “A bit,” Louis replied, before immediately adding: “But Charlotte says I’m not very good.”

Charlotte didn’t dispute her little brother’s version of events. The 11-year-old confirmed that she can perform a handstand herself, while George, 13, joined in on the family honesty by admitting, “I’m rubbish at anything that involves flexibility.”

The hilarious exchange offered a rare glimpse at the very relatable sibling dynamic between William and Kate’s children, particularly Charlotte and Louis.

Louis has been following Charlotte’s lead for years:

Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis shared another relatable sibling moment as the Wales children joined their parents at the Commonwealth Games.

William previously revealed that his youngest son would follow Charlotte around their home while she danced, attempting to copy his older sister’s moves.

Speaking on Apple Fitness+’s “Time to Walk” in 2021, the Prince of Wales described Charlotte running around the kitchen in her ballet clothes while Louis followed behind, trying to do the same thing.

Years later, it appears a little friendly competition may still be alive and well between the siblings. Charlotte has long shown an interest in gymnastics and dance, and her parents have spoken publicly about her love for both activities.

The siblings have also shared plenty of sweet moments in front of the cameras over the years. One of the most memorable came during King Charles III’s coronation in 2023, when Charlotte and Louis walked hand-in-hand into Westminster Abbey.

Their bond stretches back to Louis’ earliest days. Shortly after his birth in 2018, Kensington Palace released a photograph taken by Kate showing a then-3-year-old Charlotte cradling her newborn brother and giving him a kiss on the forehead.

A major first for Prince Louis:

While George and Charlotte have accompanied their parents to major sporting events including Wimbledon, the Glasgow outing marked Louis’ first public appearance at a major sporting event with his family.

It was also the first time George, Charlotte and Louis had made an official public appearance in Scotland together.

Louis appeared to embrace the occasion, enthusiastically interacting with Finnie, the Games’ unicorn mascot, and flashing his signature grin while wearing a red Team Wales cycling bucket hat he received during the visit.

The 8-year-old has become known for his expressive reactions during royal appearances, from his memorable faces at Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations to his animated appearances on the Buckingham Palace balcony.

But alongside the funny moments, the Commonwealth Games offered another glimpse at Louis growing into his public role and sharing the spotlight with his older siblings.

And even as he takes on more royal appearances, some things apparently remain exactly the same, Charlotte is still the big sister with an opinion, and Louis isn’t afraid to tell everyone what she thinks.
