Princess Caroline of Monaco, who is the daughter of the late Hollywood icon Grace Kelly, is one of the most classically stylish European royals, often turning to old-school Old Hollywood glamour and traditionally elegant looks: a fashion sense inherited from her late mother.
The 69-year-old still manages to surprise us with her new looks, as proven when she stepped out for a visit to the Tamayo Museum in Mexico City, Mexico, in an incredibly opulent gown that wouldn’t have looked out of place at a ball.
As identified by royal fashion blogger @royalfashionpolice on Instagram, the Monegasque royal donned the ‘Touba’ dress from Muzungu Sisters, an ethical slow fashion brand, in the black and silver colours.
The piece is a figure-hugging maxi dress in a silk and viscose blend that creates a velvet texture and cuts just above the ankles. It also features traditional Zardozi floral hand embroidery conducted by artisans in Mumbai, according to the brand, who champions the value of hand embroidery in a time when fashion production is becoming increasingly mechanised.
To accessorise, she kept up the glamour, opting for a pair of heeled sandals from Chanel, and a gorgeous pair of onyx drop earrings from Austrian artisan jeweller A.E.Köchert.
Princess Caroline and her family are known to enjoy Chanel
Princess Caroline isn’t the only member of her family who’s been seen out and about in Chanel. Though they don’t make as many public appearances as other members of the Monegasque royal family, they have nevertheless been spotted out and about in clothes from the designer on multiple occasions.
For an outing at Paris Fashion Week in January 2024, her daughter, Princess Alexandra, opted for a black collared military-style dress when she attended the Chanel Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2024 show.
Most excitingly, the ensemble isn’t even hers – she appears to have borrowed it from Princess Caroline herself! The 69-year-old royal first wore the look in 1990 at the International Annual Bouquet Contest.
In the same year, for the Spring/Summer 2025 show in October, Princess Caroline’s other daughter, Charlotte Casiraghi, also wore a Chanel ensemble: a navy and white pinstripe co-ord, which featured a long-sleeved shirt with a pop collar and matching shorts. She rounded it all off with a pair of classic black heels, also from the French designer.
