Princess Charlene of Monaco was a golden goddess in a shimmering floor-length gown at the 77th Monaco Red Cross Gala on Saturday. For the glamorous occasion, the royal transformed her signature short blonde locks into a style favoured by her late mother-in-law, Grace Kelly.
The royal, who often wears her hair parted down the middle and swept back in a sleek bun, switched up her look for sculpted waves. Charlene could have easily fit in with her late actress mother-in-law in the Old Hollywood era with ringlets of hair elegantly framing her face on the night. The late Grace Kelly often wore her hair in a similar fashion with the same classic smooth waves and perfectly placed strands of hair in a bob.
The Princess complemented her classic glam with a striking champagne gold-toned gown by luxury designer Elie Saab. The flattering gown featured a halter neckline and cascaded to the floor, covering the royal’s shoes beneath. Charlene’s dress was sparkling in pictures of her and her husband, Prince Albert, on the red carpet with Grace Kelly’s granddaughter, Camille Gottlieb.

For the final glamorous touches, Charlene carried Elie Saab’s ‘The Midnight’ Clutch, as identified by Royal Fashion Police on Instagram. The metallic clutch, which is made from champagne suede leather and embellished with Swarovski crystals, retails for $1,680 USD (approximately £1,250).
The clutch perfectly coordinated with the colour of her gown and gave a modern twist to the vintage-inspired look. As for her jewellery, Charlene opted for a pair of statement $54.5k (approx. £40.5k) earrings by Copenhagen designer, Ole Lynggaard. The brand’s ‘Gipsy earrings medium pavé’ featured 18k gold, morganite, green tourmaline, and diamonds for a brilliant finish.

From pixie cuts to blunt fringes, Charlene has embraced an array of different hair lengths and cuts in the public eye. While she’s kept her hair famously short in recent years, the royal started growing it out in 2025 to a now shoulder-length style.
In May, the royal showed off her freshly grown-out locks in a curly bob while making an appearance at the Monaco Sevens Tournament. Suzie McGill, an award-winning hairstylist who has over 30 years of experience in the hair industry, spoke to HELLO! about the royal’s “very flattering” hairdo, explaining: “Shoulder-length styles like these are a great choice for over-40s, as they give the illusion of thicker, healthier hair.”
“Furthermore, these styles are low-maintenance, fun, and extremely versatile for a variety of different occasions. Waves are great for disguising any thinning hair, making it appear thicker,” she added.
