Princess Charlotte might be known for keeping her brothers in line during major royal appearances, but there’s one member of the family who reportedly brings out a very different side of the young princess.
The daughter of Prince William and Kate Middleton shares a particularly close bond with her second cousin Mia Tindall, the eldest daughter of Zara and Mike Tindall, and according to a royal expert, the pair can become “double trouble” whenever they’re together.
Charlotte has frequently appeared composed during public engagements, sometimes even appearing to remind her brothers, Prince George and Prince Louis, about royal protocol. Mia, however, is said to have a more adventurous personality.
“Princess Charlotte and Mia Tindall have become best friends, when the cheeky pair are together that is,” royal biographer and Majesty editor-in-chief Ingrid Seward told The Sun’s Fabulous.
© WPA Pool“Charlotte is known for being super responsible for both of her brothers, telling them what to do and when to do it at royal occasions,” Seward continued, adding, “Mia is much more adventurous.”
Despite their different personalities, that appears to be exactly what makes their friendship work. “But as total opposites they become as one as children do when they are together,” Seward said.
© Samir HusseinRoyal watchers have had glimpses of their friendship over the years. Charlotte and Mia were seen laughing and chatting during the Royal Family’s Christmas Day walk in Sandringham in 2023, while the pair have also been photographed together at other major family occasions.

Charlotte and Mia’s friendship also has a sweet connection to the previous generation of the Royal Family.

“Prince William and Zara were also partners in crime when they were young,” she said. “Nannies would dread the two of them being together as they were super naughty, noisy and loved getting into trouble.”
© Samir HusseinWilliam and Zara have remained close as adults, and Seward hopes their daughters will enjoy the same lasting relationship.
“It makes royal get togethers much more fun and at their age they can still get away with being cheeky and naughty,” she said of Charlotte and Mia. “In fact when they get together they can be double trouble but everyone loves them.”
A close-knit generation of royal cousins:
Mia is the eldest of Zara and Mike’s three children, alongside Lena and Lucas Tindall. Unlike Charlotte, George and Louis, the Tindall children do not have royal titles, and their parents are not working members of the Royal Family.
William has previously spoken about how much he enjoys watching his children spend time with his cousins’ children during rare occasions when the extended family is all together.

For Charlotte and Mia, those family gatherings appear to have created a friendship remarkably similar to the one their parents enjoyed decades earlier.
