Princess Eugenie shared a tender moment with Zara Tindall’s daughter Mia at Peter Phillips’ wedding to Harriet Sperling on Saturday.
Eugenie, 36, who is pregnant with her third child, arrived at All Saints Church in Kemble, Cirencester alongside her husband Jack Brooksbank and her sister Princess Beatrice.
She greeted her cousin Zara’s daughter Mia at the church, with the pair seen giving each other a hug.
Another photo showed Eugenie smiling at her 12-year-old cousin outside the church, clearly showing their close bond.
Eugenie is Zara’s first cousin, making her and Mia first cousins once removed.
The glowing mum-to-be opted for a stylish, bump-skimming ensemble, wearing a navy Gabriela Hearst dress. She accessorised with an overcoat and Sarah Cant hat, walking arm-in-arm with a beaming Jack.
Public appearance
Beatrice and Eugenie’s attendance at the wedding marked a highly anticipated public appearance for the duo.
The York sisters have largely stepped back from the public eye recently to focus on their growing families and to navigate the ongoing media scrutiny surrounding their parents.
HELLO! previously confirmed that their parents, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah, Duchess of York, were not included on the intimate guest list to ensure the day remained distraction-free for the bride and groom.
Despite the complex family dynamics, Beatrice and Eugenie’s presence proves the close bond shared by the late Queen Elizabeth II’s grandchildren.
The wedding marks the first time both Beatrice and Eugenie have been seen with other members of the royal family in months, since the Christmas Day service at Sandringham, having missed the Easter celebrations and events to celebrate the late Queen Elizabeth’s centenary.
Wedding day
Blushing bride Harriet chose a column-style dress with a lace neckline and sleeves, and a dramatic train designed by Emilia Wickstead.
In the lead-up to the big day, there were questions over whether Harriet would wear a tiara, a decision that must be approved by the royal family.
As Peter’s mother, Princess Anne, famously declined royal titles for her children upon Peter’s birth in 1977, Harriet does not inherit a royal title through her marriage. However, precedent was set in 2008 when Peter’s first wife, Autumn Kelly, wore Princess Anne’s antique Festoon tiara.
With the close blessing of the Princess Royal, Harriet wore a dazzling, vintage diamond and pearl tiara loaned by Pragnell, the same British jeweller behind her stunning engagement ring and wedding earrings.
Peter and Harriet were supported by their bridal party, including his teenage daughters from his first marriage to Autumn Kelly – Savannah, 15, and Isla, 14 – and Harriet’s daughter, Georgina.
