Countess Athena of Monpezat marked a milestone moment with her family on Saturday, just months after celebrating her 14th birthday. The daughter of Princess Marie and Prince Joachim of Denmark was confirmed at Georgetown Lutheran Church in Washington D.C – and she looked all grown up in pictures from the special day.
Athena, who turned 14 in January, was beaming in a collection of photos with her parents and three older siblings shared by the Danish Royal Family on social media. The royal looked lovely in a timeless white ceremonial dress that dipped at the back and draped to her ankles, revealing a pair of rounded heels to match her outfit. She had her hair fashioned in an elegant half-up, half-down style for the day and kept her jewellery minimal.
Prince Joachim and Princess Marie of Denmark were the picture of proud parents next to their daughter, who is the youngest of their four children. Joachim opted for a navy suit while his wife stunned in a floral frock. The royals also share a 16-year-old son, Count Henrik, who was smiling in another sweet photo of just him and his younger sister.
Athena’s two older half-brothers, Count Nikolai and Count Felix, whom Joachim welcomed from his first marriage to Alexandra, Countess of Frederiksborg, both looked dapper in suits as they joined the family celebrations in the US. Amid the formalities, Athena shared a light-hearted moment with her siblings as the three brothers posed for a picture carrying their younger sister horizontally.
The family of four moved to Washington in March 2023 to support Prince Joachim’s role at the Danish Embassy. They now live more than 4,000 miles away from King Frederik and Queen Mary who live at Amalienborg Palace in Copenhagen.
Athena’s big year so far
The young royal kicked off the year with her 14th birthday, which was marked with special portraits. “Congratulations to Her Excellence Countess Athena, who today turns 14,” the photos, shared by the official social media account for the Danish royal family, were captioned.
The teenager was dressed in a blue striped shirt and jeans for her birthday portraits, and had her hair styled out in waves.
Another Danish royal confirmation
Athena’s recent milestone comes after her 15-year-old cousins, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, were confirmed in Denmark last month. Queen Mary and King Frederik X accompanied their twins for the ceremony at the Fredensborg Palace Church, which was officiated by the Royal Confessor, Bishop Henrik Wigh-Poulsen.
Princess Josephine looked lovely in a long-sleeved ivory white confirmation gown while her brother wore a suit for the formal occasion.
