As the eyes of the world rest upon disgraced Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor following his arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office, Queen Camilla has been busy quietly offloading her private property.
King Charles’ wife has reportedly signed ownership of her beloved Ray Mill House in Wiltshire over to her family members.
A new report by the Daily Mail’s Eden Confidential reveals that her favourite home in Lacock, Wiltshire, which she purchased in 1996 for £850,000 following her divorce from Andrew Parker Bowles, has been “discreetly transferred”.
Land Registry documents show that the new registered owners are her son-in-law, Harry Lopes, and the financier Jake Irwin, who reportedly represent his wife, Queen Camilla’s daughter Laura Lopes, and her son, Tom Parker Bowles, respectively.
Queen Camilla’s favourite property
Tucked away in the rolling hills of Wiltshire, Ray Mill House had long been the queen’s favourite property since the early 1990s.
The newly single royal lived there between 1996 and 2003 following her divorce, and used it as her secondary residence to escape the hustle and bustle of city life.
Following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, it was at this quiet countryside haven that Camilla reportedly sought solace after a week of national mourning.
The 19th century property is also incredibly sentimental for Camilla’s children; her daughter Laura and son-in-law hosted their wedding reception at the property in 2006, so it makes sense that they should want to keep it within the family.
In 2025, Camilla offered a rare insight into her favourite hobby, gardening, at Ray Mill House. Describing it as the “best therapy in the world” during an appearance at the Sandringham Flower Show, she bemoaned the heatwave for destroying her carefully curated flowerbeds. “Oh, the weather, everything is wilting!,” she said.
© GettyAsked whether she liked growing her own vegetables at her private country home, she replied: “Yes, I do enjoy it. I’m very proud of my veg. It’s the best therapy in the world. We haven’t had any rain, though, [even though] it’s been raining here. I’ve never done so much watering in my life.”

The decision to transfer ownership of the home is all the more interesting since it was reported last year that King Charles had spent £3 million on a neighbouring property
It is understood that Charles bought the home, which shares a private lane with Ray Mill House, using private funds.

The historic property, set on two acres of land, boasts four bedrooms, four bathrooms, three reception rooms, and a cloakroom. Could this become the King and Queen’s new home away from home instead of Ray Mill House.
The move would be a considerable downsizing for the monarch and his wife since Ray Mill has 12 acres of gardens and features six bedrooms, a swimming pool, and stabling.
