Queen Mary of Denmark has gone from royal wedding glamour to polished power dressing in a matter of days. After wearing a romantic pink ensemble and one of her personal tiaras to a high-society wedding over the weekend, the Danish royal returned to official duties on Tuesday, August 25, in a white-and-navy look.

The Queen attended a progress meeting for “The 10 Million Safer Births Initiative” at Eigtveds Pakhus, part of Denmark’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs complex in Copenhagen. For the engagement, she struck an elegant balance between classic officewear and contemporary royal style.

Mary defined her waist with a decorative belt and added warm brown sandals to the polished look.

Mary wore a white cotton blouse by Danish designer Britt Sisseck, distinguished by its voluminous puff sleeves, softly gathered shoulders and neat buttoned front. The exaggerated silhouette brought a romantic touch to an otherwise streamlined outfit.

She tucked the blouse into a navy Rosehip midi skirt by Apiece Apart. The full, softly pleated design fell to her ankles and created graceful movement as she arrived at the venue.

The accessories that transformed the look:

Rather than keeping the combination strictly monochromatic, Mary introduced warm tones through her accessories. A decorative woven belt defined her waist, adding texture and drawing attention to the proportions of the blouse and skirt.

She completed the look with brown strappy heels and carried a contrasting emerald green bag. Oversized sunglasses gave the ensemble an effortlessly sophisticated finish, while a selection of delicate gold bracelets added a subtle touch of shine.

The result was a masterclass in elevating familiar wardrobe staples. Although a white shirt and navy skirt are enduring workwear classics, Mary’s statement sleeves, sculptural belt and colorful handbag made the combination feel unmistakably modern.

The look also offered a dramatic contrast to her appearance just three days earlier at the wedding of Count Gregers Ahlefeldt-Laurvig-Bille, King Frederik’s godson, and Cecilie Juhl. For the celebration, Mary embraced full royal glamour in a pink floral Mikael Aghal dress, sparkling earrings and her privately owned Edwardian diamond tiara.

Queen Mary’s understated beauty look:

Mary kept her beauty look soft and relaxed for her return to work. Her brunette hair was worn loose with a center part and gentle waves through the lengths, creating a natural frame around her face.

With her eyes largely concealed behind dark sunglasses during her arrival, the focus remained on her luminous complexion and understated pink lip. The fresh makeup complemented the clean palette of her outfit without competing with its statement proportions.

Her neatly styled hair and minimal beauty choices reflected the tone of the engagement, polished enough for an official meeting but considerably more restrained than her wedding appearance days earlier.

Returning to a longstanding royal cause:

During the meeting, partners shared progress from the initiative’s first three focus countries: Ethiopia, Tanzania and Nigeria. Queen Mary has served as patron of “The 10 Million Safer Births Initiative” since its launch during her official visit to Nigeria in June 2025.

Led by UNFPA and the Danish nonprofit Maternity Foundation, the initiative aims to give as many as 10 million women across sub-Saharan Africa access to safer childbirth by the end of 2030. It is supported by the Danish government and the Gates Foundation.

The engagement also continued an area of work that has defined Mary’s public role for nearly two decades. The Queen is a longtime advocate for the health and rights of women and girls and serves as patron of both UNFPA and the Maternity Foundation.
