Congratulations are in order for Madeleine de St Pierre Bunbury and Major George Packe-Drury-Lowe, who married on 19 June in a beautiful wedding in the Leicestershire countryside, attended by HELLO!.
The couple wed at George’s family seat, the beautiful Prestwold Hall estate in Prestwold, Loughborough, with a lunchtime ceremony followed by an afternoon reception.
Equine artist Madeleine, 30, whose past commissions have included painting the horses of the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince William, looked stunning in a wedding gown designed by Bellinda Dunger and her cousin Lady Anastasia Compton, the daughter of Earl Compton.
The bride grew up on the Caribbean island of Mustique, where her parents, Lotty and Michael Bunbury, still live. The private island is a favourite getaway of the British royal family and home to stars such as Bryan Adams and Mick Jagger. Lotty is a fashion designer and runs the island’s popular boutique, The Pink House, while her husband, Michael, is Mustique’s resident doctor.
Madeleine and entrepreneur George, 31, were the picture of happiness on their wedding day, which was attended by close friends and family, and featured the couple’s horses in the celebrations.
The English weather brought warm sunshine to the magnificent Prestwold Hall, which was acquired by George’s ancestor Sir Christopher Packe in 1649. The stunning Grade I stately home sits amidst 2,500 acres of parkland and has been the home of the Packe family for over 360 years. It has its own church, St Andrew’s, which has been passed down through previous owners. The church tower dates back to the 13th century.
Madeleine and George met in March 2025 at the Cavalry & Guards Club in London’s Piccadilly.
“George was a friend of a friend of mine, and came along with her,” recalls Madeleine. “We were sitting next to each other that night,” George tells us. “I think it was definitely love at first sight for me but perhaps love at second sight for her.”
Their engagement came in January in the ski resort of St Moritz in Switzerland, where George is a seasoned rider of the famed Cresta Run – a natural ice track used for skeleton racing.
“There is an incredibly beautiful valley just outside St Moritz called Val Fex,” George says. “We took a horse drawn sleigh through the woods to this little hotel. It was a beautiful moonlit evening with a full moon and I proposed in the back of the sleigh.”
A medieval chapel at their proposal spot added more magic to the moment. George shares: “It has these incredible frescoes on the wall. In the winter, they glisten with the condensation of snow crystals on them. It’s exceptionally beautiful.”
