King Charles and other senior members of the royal family attended Trooping the Colour on Saturday, but there were several notable absences.

In her final years on the throne, the late Queen started restricting the balcony appearance to only working royals, and for the most part, Charles has kept to this rule, although children of working royals could attend, with Lady Louise Windsor joining the family in 2024.

With Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis once again stealing the show at the annual event, scroll down to see the royals who didn’t celebrate with the family.

Given what has happened in the past year, it’s not surprising that the York sisters weren’t present at the celebrations. Although the royals aren’t involved with the Epstein scandal that has embroiled their parents, it was recently revealed by a National Audit Office publication that they had been living in royal properties for below market-level rent.

Since stopping being a working royal, Andrew hasn’t been seen for Trooping the Colour. Following further revelations about his friendship with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, Andrew was exiled from the royal family, now living in a property on the Sandringham Estate.

Since stepping back as working royals and moving to the United States, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex haven’t attended Trooping the Colour, so it was no surprise that they weren’t here this year. Harry is due to return to the country next month for his Invictus Games, so could a possible reconciliation be on the cards?

Both of the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh’s children were no shows for this year’s Trooping the Colour. While Lady Louise had attended back in 2024, James has been absent for years. The two young royals are likely focusing on their studies, with Lady Louise missing Peter Phillips’ wedding last week.

While Mike has never made an appearance at Trooping the Colour, Zara has joined her mum, Princess Anne, in the past. But on this occasion, the former Olympic athlete didn’t join her family.
